Mobile Field Toilet

Admin October 08, 2026

The mobile field toilet (tent-style toilet) is a type of mobile toilet with a tent as its main structure, which can be flexibly erected and dismantled, playing an important role in ensuring major events.

I. Application Scenarios and Historical Practices
Tent-style toilets are commonly used in temporary locations with high foot traffic, such as large-scale events, emergency rescue operations, or field environments. For example, during the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War on September 3, 2025, Beijing set up such toilets on the east side of the Great Hall of the People and the west side of the National Museum of China to meet the toilet needs of a large number of people in a short period. Their advantages lie in rapid deployment, high mobility, and the ability to flexibly adjust the layout according to site conditions.

II. Upgrade Case in the Tiananmen Area of Beijing in 2026
In March 2026, Beijing Sanitation Group carried out a comprehensive upgrade of the tent-style temporary toilets on the west side of the National Museum of China. The specific improvements included:

  1. Structural and Material Optimization: Stainless steel and aluminum alloy materials were used to strengthen the overall structure, enhancing wind resistance and corrosion resistance and extending the service life.
  2. Enhanced Privacy: The height of the蹲位 (squatting-position) partitions was increased to 1.8 meters, and independent partitions were added to the urinal troughs to reduce visual interference during use.
  3. Improved Accessibility Facilities: New accessible restrooms equipped with toilets, safety handrails, and SOS alarm buttons were added to meet the needs of special groups.
  4. Intelligent Guidance: Each toilet cubicle was equipped with handrails, hooks, storage racks, and occupied/unoccupied status indicators. The intelligent system displayed the occupancy status of toilet cubicles in real-time to avoid queuing congestion.
  5. Strengthened Odor Control: The floor design was improved, and sealing rings were installed to prevent sewage leakage. Exhaust fans were added to accelerate air circulation, and deodorants were used in combination to significantly improve the user experience.
After the upgrade, the area had a total of 142 squatting positions, 5 accessible toilet positions, and 128 urinal positions, allowing it to serve more people simultaneously.

III. Technical Characteristics and Functional Advantages
The core technology of tent-style toilets lies in modular design, with components that can be quickly assembled and disassembled, facilitating transportation and reuse. The upgraded version offers improvements in multiple dimensions, including material upgrades, privacy protection, and intelligent management, balancing practicality, comfort, and environmental protection. It provides an efficient and hygienic solution for large-scale events or emergency scenarios.
