Small Mobile Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

The main types of small mobile container houses are container office houses transformed from 20-foot and 40-foot standard containers, as well as foldable container houses with significantly compressed volumes after folding. Details are as follows:

Container Office Houses

Container office houses use standard containers as carriers and are transformed into independent office units. Common specifications are 20-foot and 40-foot, which can be used as single units or combined with multiple units. The internal dimensions of a 20-foot container are usually approximately 5.898 meters in length, 2.352 meters in width, and 2.393 meters in height; the internal dimensions of a 40-foot container are usually approximately 12.032 meters in length, 2.352 meters in width, and 2.393 meters in height. These houses have a sturdy structure and are easy to transport, making them suitable for project departments, construction site command centers, and other scenarios. For example, in some small construction sites, a 20-foot container office house can meet basic office needs and is convenient for overall transportation and rapid deployment.

Foldable Container Houses

Foldable container houses adopt a foldable structural design, compressing their volume during transportation and quickly unfolding upon arrival. The unfolding time for a single set can be controlled within 30 minutes, making them suitable for office needs that require frequent relocation, such as exploration teams and temporary command posts. The folded volumes of foldable containers produced by different companies vary. For example, the folded volume of Suzhou Zhongnan's foldable container is only 1/5 of its unfolded state; CIMC's foldable container has a folded volume of 1/4 of its unfolded state; Yazhi's foldable container has a folded volume of 1/5.5 of its unfolded state; and Shengda's foldable container has a folded volume of 1/4.5 of its unfolded state. The small folded volume makes them occupy less space during transportation and storage, and their overall size is small before unfolding for use, facilitating transportation and flexible site arrangement.

Other Related Types

Expandable office houses add side or end expansion compartments on the basis of containers, increasing the usable area by 30%-50% after expansion. However, their basic dimensions still follow the standard container dimensions when not expanded. Modular office houses are composed of light steel keels and color steel plates, which are assembled on-site in a modular manner and can be flexibly expanded according to needs. Nevertheless, the dimensions of individual modules are also relatively small, facilitating transportation and assembly.
