What Does Non-Prefabricated House Slabs Mean

Admin September 19, 2026

Non-prefabricated house slabs refer to concrete slabs that are directly processed and poured on the construction site, also known as cast-in-place slabs, which are different from prefabricated slabs made in advance.

Production Method

Non-prefabricated slabs require a series of complex processing and pouring procedures on the construction site. Construction workers will set up formwork on site according to design requirements, bind and arrange steel bars in accordance with design specifications to form a steel bar framework, and then pour concrete into the formwork. After vibration compaction, curing, and other processes, the concrete reaches the designed strength, ultimately forming the floor structure of the house. In contrast, prefabricated slabs are made in advance in a factory and then directly installed on the construction site.

Adaptability and Flexibility

Non-prefabricated slabs offer better adaptability and flexibility. Since they are made on site, they can be precisely adjusted and processed according to the actual layout, dimensions, and shape of the building. For example, when encountering irregular building spaces or areas with special design requirements, non-prefabricated slabs can better meet construction needs, reducing material waste and construction difficulties caused by inappropriate dimensions. In comparison, the dimensions and shapes of prefabricated slabs are fixed, and additional cutting and splicing may be required during installation, which not only increases construction costs but may also affect the structural safety.

Integrity and Performance

Non-prefabricated slabs are cast as a whole using reinforced concrete, providing excellent integrity. This integrity enables the floor slab to evenly distribute stress when bearing loads, reducing the phenomenon of local stress concentration and thereby improving the structural stability and safety. At the same time, floor slabs with good integrity also perform well in terms of sound insulation, waterproofing, and earthquake resistance. In terms of sound insulation, the combination of concrete and steel bars can effectively block sound transmission, reducing noise interference between floors. In terms of waterproofing, the overall-poured floor slab has no gaps, effectively preventing water penetration. In terms of earthquake resistance, structures with good integrity can better resist seismic forces and reduce the extent of damage to the building.
