Materials for Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
The main materials for container houses include steel, enclosure panels, connectors, doors and windows, and auxiliary materials. Here is a detailed introduction to these materials:

Steel:
- Main frame material: The main frame of a container house is usually made of high-strength weather-resistant steel, such as grade Q355B. This type of steel has a yield strength approximately 30% higher than that of ordinary carbon steel, ensuring the stability of the container even when its length-to-width ratio is close to 2:1.
- Other steel types: These include channel steel, angle steel, and steel plates, which are used to construct various parts of the container, such as the base, columns, and side beams. These steels offer good strength and corrosion resistance, ensuring the structural safety of the house.
Enclosure Panels:
- Rock wool sandwich panels: A common type of enclosure panel, consisting of a rock wool layer, an air layer, and an aluminized zinc plate. The rock wool layer provides excellent thermal insulation, while the air layer suppresses convective heat transfer through a closed cavity, improving overall thermal performance.
- Other panel types: Such as polyurethane sandwich panels and glass wool sandwich panels, are also commonly used in the enclosure structures of container houses. Different panel types and thicknesses can be selected based on specific needs.
Connectors:
- Wedge locks and high-strength bolts: Used for connecting containers to each other, ensuring structural stability and earthquake resistance. The wedge locks are specially designed to produce a self-locking effect under horizontal shear forces, improving connection reliability.
Doors and Windows:
- Aluminum alloy doors and windows: These offer advantages such as light weight, aesthetics, and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for container houses. Additionally, aluminum alloy provides good thermal insulation, enhancing the comfort of the house.
Auxiliary Materials:
- Sealing strips: Used for sealing between doors, windows, and the container body to prevent wind and rain infiltration.
- Anti-corrosion coatings: Applied to the surface of steel for anti-corrosion treatment, extending the service life of the house.
