Materials for Container House Construction
The main materials used in constructing container houses include steel, aluminum alloy, glass, plastic, and various types of sandwich panels. The specific choice of materials is closely related to the intended use and performance requirements of the house.

1. Structural Support Materials: Steel
The core structure of container houses is made of steel, including channel steel, angle steel, and steel plates. Steel is known for its high strength and corrosion resistance, making it the fundamental material for ensuring the structural safety of the house. For example, the container mobile homes produced by Suzhou Zhongnan Steel Structure Co., Ltd. use a fully steel structural frame. Through automated welding processes, the weld strength meets national standards, allowing the frame to have a maximum deformation of only 2 millimeters under 12-level strong winds, well below the national limit. Additionally, hot-dip galvanized cold-formed steel, with its excellent rust resistance, is often used for frame construction, effectively extending the lifespan of the house.
2. Door and Window Materials: Aluminum Alloy and Glass
Aluminum alloy is the preferred material for doors and windows in container houses due to its lightweight nature, corrosion resistance, and good thermal insulation properties. For example, some houses use aluminum alloy frames paired with insulated glass, ensuring both airtightness and improved sound insulation. Glass is mainly used for doors, windows, and observation windows. Its high transparency and corrosion resistance enhance indoor lighting, while some products use tempered glass to increase safety.
3. Wall and Roof Materials: Sandwich Panels
Sandwich panels are key materials for the enclosure structure of container houses, with common types including rock wool sandwich panels, glass wool sandwich panels, and polyurethane sandwich panels. Rock wool sandwich panels, with their Class A fire rating, moisture and corrosion resistance, and excellent sound and thermal insulation properties, are the top choice for high-end products. Polyurethane sandwich panels are renowned for their outstanding thermal insulation but have slightly weaker fire resistance. Foam panels, although low-cost, have been gradually phased out due to their poor fire resistance. For example, the wall panels of residential container houses often use 600-millimeter-thick rock wool sandwich panels covered with iron sheets to meet safety requirements in scenarios such as construction site dormitories.
4. Auxiliary Materials: Plastic and Flooring
Plastic products such as plastic pipes and plates are lightweight and easy to process, commonly used for water and electrical pipelines and decorative components inside the house. Flooring materials are chosen based on needs, with cement fiber boards offering high wear resistance and steel-wood composite floors providing a comfortable feel underfoot. Some houses also use metal panels or calcium silicate boards on walls and ceilings to enhance durability.
