Manufacturing Home Portable Toilet
Admin October 10, 2026
You can refer to the following two methods and key structural components for manufacturing a home portable toilet:

Method 1: Using a water storage barrel
- Basic frame construction: Split a water storage barrel in half with an angle grinder and use one half as the main body. Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board for mobility; secure wooden strips and self-tapping screws on the upper side of the barrel to increase height for human use.
- Wall and roof construction: Create an opening on the side of the water storage barrel, install sponge strips to form a door frame, and embed plastic soft boards to form an elevated wall. Invert the upper half of the water storage barrel onto the top of the wooden strips as the roof and apply white waterproof paint to enhance aesthetics. Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb wooden boards to make a simple door, ensuring tightness.
- Drainage and water supply system: Create an opening at the bottom of the barrel and install a drain pipe to form a floor drain; create holes on the side and bottom of a plastic bucket and install direct connectors. Place the plastic bucket over the roof as a small water storage device and connect it to a simple shower made of water pipes. Install a tee below the water inlet pipe and connect it to a showerhead. Connect the drain pipe to a sewage bucket. Extend the outlet pipe tee horizontally to the doorway as the water inlet pipe for the sink, install connectors and hoses, and create an opening in the door.
- Sanitary ware installation: Place a toilet and install a water tank, using glass glue to seal gaps and prevent leakage.
Method 2: Using a water storage tank and a pallet
- Mobile device installation: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of a pallet to ensure mobility stability.
- Main body assembly: Secure the water storage tank on the pallet to form the basic structure of a mobile toilet. Design the sewage and water supply systems according to the capacity of the water storage tank, such as creating an opening on the side of the tank to connect a drain pipe and installing a water inlet connector on the top.
Key structural components of a mobile toilet
- Core components: Include a fecal sewage storage tank (or disposal device), floor, sanitary ware (toilet/squat pan), walls, washing equipment (sink), water tank, roof, and mobile device (universal wheels/towing structure).
- Classification criteria:
- Structural form: Monolithic structure (independent unit) or composite structure (multi-module combination).
- Mobility method: Hoisting/handling type (requires manual or mechanical movement), powered/towing type (can be connected to a vehicle for towing).
- Sewage treatment method: Flush type (requires a water source and sewage pipes), non-flush suction type (relies on a vacuum pump to suction feces), recirculating flush type (sewage is purified and reused), and dry packing type (uses biodegradable bags to collect feces).
Precautions: Ensure that the structure is stable and well-sealed during manufacturing to prevent leakage; plan the water supply and drainage systems reasonably to prevent cross-contamination; if electrical equipment (such as a shower) is used, ensure proper waterproofing and leakage protection.
