Maldives Container House Application

Admin September 16, 2026

There are indeed application cases of container houses in the Maldives, mainly used in tourism construction projects and camp housing for airport expansion and renovation projects.

In terms of tourism construction projects, Changshu Yashi Modular Building Co., Ltd. once exported a batch of steel-structure panel houses to the Maldives. This project was of a large scale, consisting of 57 one- to two-story buildings, with a total of 531 modules, a construction area of 13,200 square meters, and a total weight of 2,007.2 tons. These steel-structure panel houses can be regarded as a derivative form of container houses, adopting a modular design concept and being quickly constructed through factory prefabrication and on-site assembly. This construction method has advantages such as a short construction period, strong mobility, and environmental protection and energy conservation, making it highly suitable for the Maldives, a region with numerous islands, limited land resources, and high requirements for ecological environmental protection. Through modular construction, it can quickly meet the local tourism industry's demand for accommodation facilities while reducing damage to the natural environment.

In terms of camp housing for airport expansion and renovation projects, Chengdong International Camp provided camp housing for the Maldives International Airport expansion and renovation project. These camp houses all adopt double-story ZA and ZM type camps and are planned to be used for 3 - 5 years. Due to the hot and humid climate in the Maldives, its proximity to the ocean, and the high salt content in the air, there are high requirements for the corrosion resistance and moisture resistance of the building structures. Therefore, the design of these camps fully takes into account the local climatic conditions, requiring the structures to be safe and reliable, moisture-resistant and corrosion-resistant, and with effective cold insulation measures. The double-story design not only improves space utilization but also enhances the building's stability and thermal insulation performance to a certain extent, providing a comfortable living environment for the staff.

These application cases demonstrate that container houses and their derivative forms have significant advantages and adaptability in specific scenarios in the Maldives, meeting the local needs for tourism development and infrastructure construction.
