Making Outdoor Portable Toilet Technology

Admin October 05, 2026

There are mainly two methods for making outdoor portable toilets: using a water storage bucket and using a water storage tank and a pallet.

Making with a Water Storage Bucket

First, prepare a water storage bucket and use an angle grinder to split it in half down the middle, providing basic components for subsequent assembly. Next, fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to enable easy movement of the entire portable toilet. Then, use wooden strips and self-tapping screws to secure them to the upper side of the bucket, increasing its height and providing suitable space for installing other components. Cut an opening on the side of the water storage bucket and install sponge strips to form a door frame, providing some sealing and fixation. Embed plastic soft boards to form elevated walls. Place the upper half of the water storage bucket on top of the wooden strips as a roof, completing the basic framework construction. Drill a hole at the bottom of the bucket to install a drain pipe, forming a floor drain, and drill a hole on the side to connect a direct joint for drainage. After that, install the toilet and water tank, and fix them with glass glue to ensure the toilet is stable and does not leak. Connect the drain pipe to a sewage bucket to enable sewage discharge. Finally, horizontally connect a water pipe to the entrance as the inlet pipe for the sink, and install a faucet and a hose for users to wash their hands conveniently.

Making with a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet

First, fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of the pallet to ensure easy movement. Place the water storage tank and use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line at the top to remove the top, forming an open tank. Invert another open-top water storage tank and stack it on top of the first tank, and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws to construct the main space of the toilet. Cut rectangular openings on the outer frame and the tank of the water storage tank to form an entrance for people to enter and exit. Drill a hole in the interior floor of the water storage tank, insert an elbow and a water pipe, and seal the gaps with glue to prevent water leakage. Install the toilet and align it with the drain outlet, and fix the toilet to the floor with glue to ensure it is firmly installed. Fix the water pipe with wall clamps, install a faucet, a pipe cap, and a drain pipe outlet to complete the drainage system. Install a sink made of a stainless steel basin on the pipe cap to provide a hand-washing function. Connect the inlet pipe of the toilet water tank and the shower hose, install a shower bracket and a spray-type showerhead to meet different water usage needs. Finally, fix a wooden board as a door and install a door handle to complete the making of the entire outdoor portable toilet.
