Making Container House Roof Iron Sheet

Admin September 16, 2026

When making iron sheets for the roof of a container house, it is necessary to comprehensively consider material selection, structural design, processing customization, and installation points, as detailed below:

1. Material Selection
Iron sheets for container house roofs are typically made of galvanized steel sheets or corrugated steel sheets. For example, the 0.5mm zinc-free galvanized sheets and 0.6mm galvanized corrugated steel sheets sold by Tianjin Yichi Steel have high zinc-layer corrosion resistance, making them suitable for long-term outdoor use. Second-hand container houses in Xi'an, Shaanxi, use CORTEN weathering steel, which combines strength and weather resistance, with a service life of over 20 years. If fire resistance is required, fire-resistant iron sheets can be chosen, which are treated with a special process to effectively resist combustion.

2. Structural Design
The roof iron sheets need to be tightly integrated with the container frame to form an overall load-bearing structure. Common designs include:

  • Corrugated Sheet Structure: For example, the corrugated containers from Xi'an Jimei use a steel structure + corrugated sheets, achieving sound insulation and heat insulation through air-break design while enhancing wind and earthquake resistance.
  • Composite Insulation Structure: Some container houses are lined with composite EPS insulation wall panels on the inside of the iron sheets to improve insulation performance, suitable for cold regions.
  • Detachable Design: For example, the color steel plate houses in Qingdao, Shandong, adopt a modular design, allowing the iron sheets and frames to be quickly assembled and disassembled for easy transportation and reuse.

3. Processing Customization
Choose the processing method according to needs:

  • Standard Sizes: International standard 20-foot containers have a load capacity of 25 tons, and 40-foot containers have a load capacity of 45 tons. The roof iron sheets need to match the container dimensions (e.g., 6.05m × 2.43m).
  • Custom Sizes: For example, the advertising-style containers from Shanghai Zhuoheng can be decomposed into iron sheets according to customer requirements for personalized shapes or modular buildings.
  • Special Processes: For example, rapidly installed roof houses use prefabricated flat packaging, where the iron sheets and frames are prefabricated in the factory and quickly assembled on-site, shortening the construction period.

4. Installation Points

  • Fixing Method: The iron sheets are fixed to the frame with self-tapping screws or rivets, and the seams need to be sealed to prevent water leakage.
  • Drainage Design: The roof iron sheets need to have a slope (usually 2%-5%) reserved and drainage channels installed to ensure rapid drainage of rainwater.
  • Safety Protection: In highly corrosive environments, high zinc-layer galvanized sheets should be selected, and anti-rust paint can be applied in coastal areas. In earthquake-prone areas, the connection nodes of the steel structure need to be reinforced to improve overall earthquake resistance.
