Mobile Toilets near Lanzhou Zhongshan Bridge

Admin October 02, 2026

Multiple mobile toilets have been added near Lanzhou Zhongshan Bridge, and plans are underway to construct new mobile public toilets to meet the needs of tourists.

I. Distribution of Existing Mobile Toilets Currently, emergency public toilets have been installed and are open for use on the east side of the hydrological station in the South Square and the east side of the North Square near Lanzhou Zhongshan Bridge, with no queues observed on-site. Additionally, public toilet guide signs have been set up at the cultural tourism post on the west side of the South Square and the North Square of Zhongshan Bridge, facilitating quick location of nearby public toilets for tourists. The layout of these facilities fully considers the distribution of tourist traffic, with point locations dynamically adjusted according to the principle of 'responsive supply,' such as concentrated deployment in tourist-dense areas during peak periods like holidays.

II. Planning for New Mobile Public Toilets The Management Committee of the Yellow River Scenic Area has initiated two new construction projects:

  1. East Side of the Hydrological Station: A comprehensive mobile public toilet will be built, featuring 8 toilet stalls, a third toilet (for special needs individuals such as the disabled and families with children), a urinal area, and a management room. The inclusion of a third toilet demonstrates care for special groups, while the management room is designated for equipment maintenance and daily management.
  2. East Side of the North Square of Zhongshan Bridge: It is planned to add a mobile toilet with 2 stalls to further alleviate toilet pressure in localized areas. Both projects aim to be operational by August 12th, significantly enhancing public service capabilities around Zhongshan Bridge.

III. Design Features of Lanzhou's Mobile Toilets Lanzhou's mobile toilets are not temporary facilities but systematic solutions optimized for the city's unique environment:

  1. Modular Structure: Comprising three subsystems—a load-bearing platform, functional modules, and an ecological treatment unit—they can be quickly assembled and disassembled, adapting to various terrains such as waterside slopes.
  2. Environmental Adaptability: Designed to withstand the large temperature variations and strong winds and sand typical of a continental climate, weather-resistant materials and wind-sand protection measures ensure equipment stability.
  3. Data-Driven Deployment: Point locations are determined by analyzing short-term pedestrian flow data (e.g., holiday tourist traffic), with facilities dynamically allocated in areas like the Yellow River Scenic Area and Zhongshan Bridge.

These designs enable mobile public toilets to meet peak demand while flexibly addressing urban space constraints, making them an integral part of Lanzhou's public service system.
