Lanzhou Single-Person Portable Toilet

Admin October 13, 2026

The Lanzhou single-person portable toilet is a portable sanitation unit made of fiberglass or polyethylene, equipped with basic sanitation facilities, suitable for rapid deployment at temporary events or venues.

I. Basic Structure and Materials
The main structure of the Lanzhou single-person portable toilet is typically made of fiberglass or polyethylene materials. Fiberglass is lightweight, strong, and corrosion-resistant, making it suitable for long-term outdoor use; polyethylene, on the other hand, is cost-effective and easy to process, often used in economical products. Both are manufactured through a one-piece molding process using molds to ensure structural sealing and prevent leakage. The internal configuration includes a toilet (squat or sit type), water storage tank (or connection to municipal water supply), ventilation device (such as an exhaust fan or natural ventilation opening), and some models are equipped with lighting systems. The basic configuration focuses on practicality, meeting basic excretion needs, while high-end models may include additional facilities such as disinfectant dispensers and paper towel holders.

II. Design Principles and Functional Characteristics
Its design adheres to the core principles of portability and cost-effectiveness. The overall structure is modular, weighing between 200-500 kilograms, allowing for quick loading and unloading with forklifts or small transport vehicles. Adjustable feet are installed at the bottom to adapt to uneven ground, ensuring stability. Cost-effectiveness is reflected in low material costs and simple maintenance (e.g., easy cleaning of polyethylene surfaces), while durability is achieved through UV-resistant coatings and reinforced frames, enabling it to withstand temperature variations from -20℃ to 50℃. The ventilation system reduces odors through negative pressure principles or natural convection, and some models use biodegradation technology to treat excreta, reducing water dependency.

III. Application Scenarios and Deployment Efficiency
It primarily serves temporary, high-mobility scenarios, such as music festivals, sports events, temple fairs, and other large-scale activities, as well as construction sites and post-disaster reconstruction areas that lack permanent sanitation facilities but require long-term use. The deployment process includes: site survey (within 1 hour) → transportation to the site (dependent on road conditions) → leveling and securing (30 minutes) → water and electricity connection (if required). After the event, it can be quickly removed through the reverse process, avoiding long-term occupation of the site. Extended functions of high-end models (such as baby changing stations and barrier-free access) require customization in advance, but single-person models usually maintain standardized designs to reduce costs.

IV. Limitations
The capacity of single-person portable toilets is limited, requiring manual cleaning after each use or relying on automatic flushing systems (in high-end models), which may necessitate increased cleaning frequency during peak usage periods. Their wind resistance is typically below Level 8, requiring reinforcement or suspension of use in extreme weather conditions. Additionally, antifreeze must be added or electric heating systems used in winter to prevent pipe freezing, further increasing operational costs.
