Kunming Chenggong Mobile Toilets
The mobile toilets in Chenggong District, Kunming, are characterized by their intelligence, well-equipped facilities, and widespread distribution, providing convenient toilet services for citizens and tourists.

I. Newly Added Mobile Smart Toilets
In mid-to-late June 2022, Chenggong District added six municipal mobile smart toilets, located at the intersection of Yuhua Road and Changfeng Road, the southeast side of Baiyao Street and Xinhui Road, the southeast corner of Xuehai Road and Shaoguang Street, beside Exit B of Niutoushan Subway Station on Lian Avenue, within Sanchakou Community, and at Luolong Village Folk Culture Square. These toilets adopt a modular design, facilitating rapid deployment and relocation to adapt to different scenarios.
II. Standardized Facility Configuration
Each mobile toilet covers an area of approximately 35 square meters, with clearly defined functional zones:
- Toilet Cubicle Configuration: There are four squatting cubicles, one accessible toilet (meeting the needs of disabled individuals and special groups), and one management room (for storing cleaning tools and equipment).
- Smart Equipment: Equipped with automatic sensor flushing devices (reducing the risk of contact infection), ventilation fans (maintaining air circulation), odor-removing fragrances (optimizing the user experience), and external display screens (showing real-time toilet cubicle availability to avoid queues).
- Human-Centered Design: The sinks are moved outside the toilet to enhance internal space utilization; free toilet paper is provided, and some areas also include additional details such as coat hooks.
III. Current Quantity and Distribution
As of June 27, 2022, Chenggong District has a total of 318 municipal public toilets (including 9 in parks), of which:
- 32 Mobile Toilets: Represented by the six newly added smart toilets, covering high-traffic areas such as transportation hubs, communities, and squares.
- 286 Fixed Toilets: Distributed along main and secondary roads and in commercial areas, providing long-term stable services.
- 56 Smart Toilets: Integrated with IoT technology for remote monitoring and environmental monitoring functions.
In addition, there are approximately 2,000 non-municipal public toilets in residential areas, commercial centers, and other areas within the jurisdiction, managed by property owners or operating units.
IV. Service Guarantee Mechanism
During large-scale events (such as the 10th South Asia-Southeast Asia Exposition in 2026), Chenggong District leases mobile toilets through government procurement services, requiring suppliers to provide facilities with no fewer than 50 toilet cubicles, equipped with basic equipment such as squatting pans, sinks, and coat hooks, while ensuring the supply of consumables such as toilet paper and hand soap to meet peak toilet demands.
