Jinkouhe Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

Jinkouhe container houses generally refer to modular building units that are either transformed from containers as the main structural components or directly produced, featuring rapid construction, flexible combination, environmental protection, and cost-effectiveness. They are widely used in scenarios such as temporary construction sites, cultural tourism homestays, and emergency shelters.

1. Core Structure and Classification

Container houses are modified from standard containers (such as ISO 20-foot/40-foot containers) through welding, bolt connections, and other methods. According to the structural source, they can be classified as:

  • Custom Fixed Type: Newly built according to ISO modulus, using thinner plates or material substitutions, with non-standard corner fittings arrangements and a high degree of factory automation;
  • Variable Type: Wall panels can be flipped/extended/rotated (such as expandable shops and display boxes), mostly used in single-story scenarios. According to the forming process, they can be divided into integral welded type (dry container type), light steel keel type, plug-in type, folding type, etc. Among them, the folding type reduces transportation costs by folding vertically to compress volume, making it suitable for long-distance deployment.

2. Application Scenarios and Advantages

  1. Temporary Construction Sites:
    The penetration rate of container houses in domestic temporary construction site scenarios has reached 72% (2025 data), replacing traditional brick-and-mortar temporary buildings and movable plank houses. Their advantages include:

    • Rapid Installation and Delivery: Single container units have high assembly efficiency, and projects with hundreds of units can be delivered in batches, suitable for urgent entry and tight construction schedules;
    • Safety and Compliance: Their wind and fire resistance performance has passed the detection of the "General Technical Conditions for Prefabricated Integrated Houses", with a service life of 25-50 years;
    • Low-carbon and Environmental Protection: The construction waste generated during demolition is only 1.2 kg/㎡, and carbon emissions are reduced by more than 80% compared to traditional temporary buildings.
  2. Cultural Tourism Homestays:
    Container houses can be combined into popular homestays, cafes, etc., through horizontal container connection (transversely打通 to create conference rooms and exhibition halls) and vertical container stacking (6-story dormitories and hotels). For example, the Nagoya Asian Games in Japan used container houses to build a temporary Asian Games village, with each unit containing two bedrooms, a living room, and an independent bathroom, which was later converted into a disaster evacuation center.

  3. Emergency Shelters:
    In natural disasters or public emergencies, container houses can be quickly erected as temporary medical stations and command centers. Their modular design supports rapid expansion and functional conversion.

3. Technical Specifications and Selection Points

  1. Structural Load-bearing:
    The load is borne by a pure steel frame, with wall panels, roof panels, and glass not bearing any load. The force path is "panel secondary beam → main beam → corner column → corner fitting → foundation". Corner fittings are the only load-bearing points for stacking and should be made of welded weathering steel (GB/T 4171), while non-container components should use Q235B/Q345B.

  2. Fire Prevention and Corrosion Resistance:
    The use of flammable core materials such as EPS in the enclosure is prohibited. For crowded places, Class A rock wool/glass wool with a fire resistance limit of ≥0.5h should be used. Steel structures should be coated with fire-resistant paint and equipped with escape routes (with a clear width of ≥0.9m), fire extinguishers, and other facilities.

  3. Adaptability:
    It is necessary to select manufacturers with a rich product line and strong adaptability to complex terrains according to project requirements. For example, Suzhou Shengshan Integrated provides a solution of "standardized containers + modular accessories + flexible expansion", covering multiple provinces and cities in China as well as overseas projects.
