Convenient Mobile Toilets in Jing'an District

Admin October 11, 2026

Jing'an District has carried out practices related to the removal of public toilets that cause disturbances to residents and the introduction of characteristic 'Yi Series' public toilets in the area of mobile toilets, providing convenience for public toilet use.

Removal of Disturbing Mobile Public Toilets

The mobile public toilet near Wuding Road and Taixing Road was originally set up to meet the toilet needs of outdoor workers, businesses, and passersby in the surrounding area. However, due to its close proximity to residential areas, the odor problem was prominent in summer, causing serious disturbances to residents. In the spring of 2024, after receiving feedback from residents during community outreach activities, people's representatives conducted on-site inspections and in-depth research. They found that there was not a single public toilet within a 2.5-kilometer stretch from Beijing West Road south to Wuding Road, indicating a gap in public services. Eventually, the representatives formulated the 'Suggestions on Further Optimizing the Locations of Mobile Public Toilets', proposing the removal of the disturbing mobile public toilet, guiding the flow of people, and diverting toilet needs to nearby areas such as Hudiewan. In 2025, with the active performance of duties by people's representatives and the efficient collaboration of government departments, the mobile public toilet was successfully removed and relocated, effectively solving the odor disturbance problem and optimizing the layout of public services.

Convenience Provided by the 'Yi Series' Public Toilets

The three 'Yi Series' public toilets recommended by Jing'an all made it onto the list of Shanghai's 'Most Beautiful Toilets' in 2025. Although it is not explicitly mentioned whether they are mobile toilets, they provide convenience for public toilet use in Jing'an District in terms of functions and services. 'Pengjiang Yi' is located at No. 101 Pengjiang Road. It uses a roof-mounted solar photovoltaic system to achieve 100% self-sufficient power supply throughout the year. It has an open corridor lounge area outside, optimized disabled ramps, and the third toilet is equipped with various facilities, using touchless devices and also adding a friendly station. 'Yuewei Yi' is located in the Yuedong Garden on North Tibet Road. Combining with the garden's fitness function, it features a log-colored facade, is equipped with various intelligent devices and emergency facilities, and achieves 'barrier-free use for all age groups'. 'Lexiang Yi' is located in the Yinyuan Garden at No. 810 Jiaozhou Road. Its exterior is covered with vertical greenery, and its interior is inspired by 'musical note rhythms' with various characteristic facilities set up. These public toilets not only meet basic toilet needs but also provide diverse services and a comfortable experience.
