Jiaxing Container House Design

Admin September 16, 2026

Jiaxing container house design takes environmental protection as its core concept and combines innovative spatial applications to form a building model that is both sustainable and functionally flexible.

Eco-Friendly Design Concept

  1. Resource Recycling and Regeneration: Using retired shipping containers as the main building material, replacing traditional bricks and concrete, reduces resource extraction and processing energy consumption. The Jiaxing project prioritizes the use of locally retired containers, shortening transportation distances and further reducing carbon emissions.
  2. Low-Carbon Construction Process: Modular prefabrication technology is employed, with the main structure processed in factories and quickly assembled on-site. Compared to traditional wet construction methods, this reduces construction waste, noise, and dust pollution, significantly minimizing environmental disturbance.
  3. Energy Efficiency and Ecological Regulation:
    • Thermal Insulation: High-performance insulation layers are added to the exterior of containers, creating a continuous insulation system that reduces energy consumption for cooling in summer and heating in winter.
    • Natural Ventilation: Through methods such as offsetting double-layer containers and creating ventilation interlayers, air circulation is promoted, reducing reliance on mechanical air conditioning.
    • Vertical Greening: Vegetation covers the top and sides of containers, improving local microclimates, adding ecological landscapes, and integrating solar photovoltaic panels and water heaters to enhance renewable energy utilization.
  4. Materials and Indoor Health: Interior decoration uses low-volatile organic compound paints and adhesives, as well as sustainable natural materials like wood and bamboo, ensuring air quality. Rainwater harvesting systems are used for irrigation or flushing, combined with graywater recycling technology, to achieve efficient water resource utilization.

Innovative Spatial Applications

  1. Modular Combination Diversity: Standard containers, like building blocks, can be combined through horizontal alignment, vertical stacking, central rotation, and offset cantilevering to form linear, L-shaped, double-story, or multi-story structures, offering high design flexibility to adapt to different site requirements.
  2. Rich Application Scenarios:
    • Personalized Studios and Creative Workshops: Independent designers and artisans use 1-2 containers to transform into studios, creating focused and inspiring work environments through reasonable lighting and soft furnishings, with industrial-style exteriors becoming brand identifiers.
    • Leisure Spaces: On farms, camping sites, or near scenic areas, containers are transformed into cafes and book bars, with large glass windows introducing natural light and landscapes, blurring indoor-outdoor boundaries and attracting visitors.
    • Home Expansion Spaces: In residential yards, single containers can be transformed into sunrooms, art studios, music practice rooms, or reading corners, meeting personalized living needs.
