Admin September 16, 2026
Container houses in Jiangsu come in a variety of sizes, covering both standard and customized dimensions. These can be categorized into international standard dry container sizes, domestic general standard sizes, customized sizes, and combined sizes through assembly.

International Standard Dry Container Sizes Dry containers (DRY CONTAINERS) widely used internationally include:
- 20-foot container: External dimensions are 20×8×8 feet 6 inches (approximately 6.1×2.44×2.59 meters), with an internal diameter of 5898×2352×2390 millimeters and a volume of about 33 cubic meters. It is commonly used for single-container buildings or modular assemblies.
- 40-foot container: External dimensions are 40×8×8 feet 6 inches (approximately 12.2×2.44×2.59 meters), with an internal diameter of 12024×2352×2390 millimeters and a volume of about 67 cubic meters. It is suitable for large-span or multi-story buildings.
- 40-foot high cube container: The height is increased to 9 feet 6 inches (approximately 2.89 meters), with an internal height of 2690 millimeters, providing more vertical space. It is often used in scenarios requiring higher ceilings.
Domestic General Standard Sizes In the production of container houses in China, common standard sizes include:
- Length 6 meters, width 3 meters, height 2.8-2.9 meters: These dimensions comply with domestic transportation and installation standards and are widely used in construction site dormitories, temporary offices, etc. The area is about 18 square meters, accommodating 6-8 people for living or serving as an independent office space.
- Export general size: Length 6 meters, width 2.4 meters, height 2.9 meters, adapting to international transportation standards and facilitating overseas projects.
Customized Sizes According to functional requirements, container houses can be customized to non-standard sizes:
- Suzhou Anshiju Company offers 20-foot fully reinforced modular container houses with customizable dimensions. For example, the foldable living container house adopts a flat-sloped roof + waterproof movable panel design to meet personalized needs.
- Jizhu Technology has launched three generations of container building modules: the first-generation standard container (e.g., a 20-foot container with dimensions of 2.4×2.6×6 meters); the second-generation customized container (e.g., a 20-foot container adjusted to 3×3×6 meters); the third-generation container with customizable dimensions up to 14 meters in length, 3.5 meters in width, and 3.2 meters in height, based on transportation dimensions.
Combined Sizes Through Assembly By assembling containers, usable space can be expanded:
- Horizontal assembly: Combining a 40-foot container with a 20-foot container forms a longer building.
- Vertical stacking: Double-story or duplex container houses (e.g., a case of three 40-foot containers assembled by Guangzhou Jinge Company, with dimensions of 11.8×6.75×2.8 meters and a usable area of 80 square meters) are suitable for integrated office and living scenarios.
