Japan Convenient Portable Toilet

Admin October 08, 2026

Japan has a variety of ingeniously designed and functionally practical portable toilets. Here are introductions to several typical designs:

Backpack-style Portable Toilet

This type of toilet resembles a backpack in appearance and is quick and easy to assemble. It is equipped with basic items such as toilet paper and a small toilet inside. When in use, simply set up the outer tent to create a relatively private toilet space. This design fully takes into account the convenience and privacy needs of users, making it suitable for outdoor activities, emergency rescue, and other scenarios. The backpack design is convenient for carrying and storage, taking up little space and providing great convenience for users.

Simple Folding Toilet

It consists of a C-shaped toilet seat, nylon fabric, four aluminum tubes, garbage bags, and coagulant. When using it, you can place the four legs of a stool over the C-shaped toilet seat, insert an umbrella into the top of the seat, and then cover the umbrella with the nylon fabric to form a simple tent toilet. If there is no stool, you can also use four mineral water bottles as the four legs of the stool and fix them on the C-shaped toilet seat. After using the toilet, you can simply throw away the garbage bag for easy cleaning. Moreover, the backpack is waterproof and can hold 16 liters of water, which can not only be used to clean the toilet when needed but also serve as a fire extinguisher in emergencies, offering multiple functions.

Portable Toilet Designed by Nendo (minimLET)

It mainly consists of six parts: a C-shaped toilet seat, four lightweight aluminum rods, garbage bags, a large piece of lightweight canvas, coagulant, and a backpack that can hold all the above items and also store 16 liters of water. The basic usage is to fix the garbage bag on the C-shaped seat, support it with the aluminum rods, and then wear the canvas like a raincoat and sit on it when using. The C-shaped toilet seat has relevant connecting accessories and can be supported by four beverage bottles filled with sand or even fixed cans. The extra aluminum rods can be used as another support structure. If there is an umbrella, combining the umbrella and the canvas can set up a small shelter, creating a "luxury" version of a temporary toilet and providing users with a more comfortable and private toilet environment.
