Ireland Container House Images
Currently, direct images of container houses in Ireland cannot be provided, but their design features and appearance characteristics can be described based on publicly available information.

I. Overview of Ireland's First Container House Project
Located in Ireland, this house was designed by Ceardean Architects and transformed from a single 40-foot 1A-type HC container. The transformation was completed in just three days and was later moved to the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) for exhibition. The core of its design is to convert a standard container into a fully functional living space through external cladding and structural optimization while maintaining the stability of the original structure.
II. Appearance and Material Design
- External Cladding: The house is clad with wooden materials on the original container body, creating a warm visual effect. The wooden material not only enhances aesthetics but also provides thermal insulation, improving the thermal performance of the container's metal shell.
- Window Design: Large open-style windows are used to enhance indoor-outdoor interaction. During the day, opening the glass doors can expand the view and make the compact space appear more spacious.
- Structural Expansion: A terrace is added outside the house as an outdoor activity area, compensating for the limitations of the container's internal space.
III. Internal Space Layout
- Living Room and Kitchen: The entrance leads to the living room, equipped with a double sofa, murals, and warm lighting fixtures, creating a romantic atmosphere. The kitchen adopts a "cooking cabinet" design, integrating a sink, an electric stove, and storage space, making it functionally compact.
- Bedroom and Bathroom: There is only one bedroom inside, which is small but practical due to the full moisture-proof tile covering. The bathroom also features a moisture-proof design to adapt to the humidity environment of the container.
- Space Utilization: The limited 15㎡ space is optimized through foldable furniture and built-in storage systems. For example, the sofa can be folded into a bed, and fire-resistant materials are used around the fireplace to balance functionality and safety.
IV. Project Significance
As Ireland's first container building project, this house demonstrates the feasibility of transforming a single container into an independent residence. Its design emphasizes modularity, sustainability, and transportability, providing a reference model for subsequent container buildings.
