Interview | Innovative Eco Design Guiding New Building Trends

Admin September 12, 2026

Shanghai Television interviewed our company on the future of architecture. The conversation focused on innovation and environmental protection, and looked ahead at the prospects for container buildings. Below are excerpts from the report:

Architecture expresses the character of the modern city and is among the most direct parts of urban memory. Many innovative building designs mark key milestones in an era's development. The rise of container architecture—with its eco-friendly and energy-saving qualities—has offered a wholly new approach to structural design.

Zhao Xiangyang, general manager of our company, said the firm first entered this industry in 2015. From R&D and design through construction and assembly as an integrated process, the team has delivered many commercial and built projects, continuously learning from experience and iterating upgrades.

Container modular products are green ecological buildings by nature. They conserve resources, reduce pollution, and support low-carbon, environmentally responsible construction. They can provide healthy, practical, and efficient space for people, helping achieve high-quality buildings in which people and nature coexist in harmony.

Our company is investing more heavily in R&D and design, working with industry partners—through mergers, joint ventures, and integration of upstream and downstream collaborators—to win their support, form an ecological industrial chain, and jointly advance the "modular building space MIC" sector.

Chang Xiaojie, deputy general manager of our company, noted that in 2018 the team partnered with Tongji University on a project for the WIEE World Innovation and Entrepreneurship Expo. It was China's first full container exhibition project. In 2021, the Suzhou Adcote Library project was completed. If needed, the entire container library can be dismantled, moved elsewhere, and rebuilt exactly as before—100% like the original.

Last year the team created the FUN Youth Container Market in Nanchang. In community activity spaces, a signature project is the Rong Station Container Ginkgo Cabin, where rich cultural events take place almost every weekend. A recent delivery is the West Bank Wind Valley Culture and Sports Park project in Xuhui District, aimed at creating new consumption scenes for sports consumers and meeting their needs.

Yang Shaoliang, PhD of Tongji University in Shanghai, said that early-stage design for container buildings must weigh function, form, site conditions, and connection methods; balance function, aesthetics, and economy; and pay attention to green practices and the relationship with the city.

Container buildings offer prefabrication, durability and corrosion resistance, mobility, temporary use, and recyclability. They can be assembled quickly, at low cost, with environmental benefits, while also carrying a distinctive artistic form. In specific cases they outperform other building types—for example when budgets are tight, schedules are short, or the terrain is demanding—without adding much burden to public space, which aligns with today's urban renewal trends.

As an innovative face of architecture for a new era, container buildings show a unique design vision. They add a bright note to modern cities and help build more vibrant urban life.
