Renovation of Mobile Toilets in Rural Areas of Inner Mongolia

Admin September 27, 2026

The renovation of mobile toilets in rural areas of Inner Mongolia needs to integrate climate, geography, and villagers' needs, achieving sanitation improvement and sustainable resource utilization through scientific planning, standardized construction, and post-construction maintenance. The specific key points are as follows:

Pre-construction Preparation

1. Site Survey and Planning
Evaluate the terrain and topography to avoid low-lying areas prone to water accumulation, ensuring a stable foundation. Based on village layout and population distribution, prioritize locations close to public areas and convenient for sewage disposal. Given the severe cold in Inner Mongolia's winters, add wall insulation layers (such as double-layer color steel plates filled with polystyrene foam boards), use freeze-resistant septic tanks, and ensure toilet locations are sheltered from wind to reduce heat loss.
2. Material and Equipment Selection
Choose light steel keels or modular steel structures for the main framework, balancing strength and corrosion resistance. Select sewage systems based on village conditions, including three-chamber septic tanks, biodegradable toilets, or vacuum suction toilets. Equip with water-saving flushing devices (water volume ≤ 3L/flush), odor-proof floor drains, ventilation windows (area ≥ 1/20 of the floor area), and lighting fixtures to enhance user comfort.

Construction Process and Key Techniques

1. Foundation Construction
Excavate the foundation pit below the frost line (approximately 1.5-2 meters), pour a concrete foundation, and embed anchor bolts. Control surface flatness error within ±5mm to prevent main structure tilting.
2. Main Structure Installation
Adopt modular assembly, installing the base frame, walls, roof, and doors/windows sequentially. Seal connections with waterproof glue. Lay anti-slip floor tiles with a slope of 2%-3% to ensure smooth drainage.
3. Sewage System Construction

  • Lay a 10cm sand and gravel bedding for the septic tank, cover with a 30cm soil layer to prevent frost cracking, and install inspection ports.
  • For biodegradable toilets, install a bacterial reactor and connect to ventilation pipes, regularly adding bacterial agents to maintain degradation efficiency.
  • For vacuum suction toilets, ensure pipeline slope ≥ 1% and suction pressure meets standards (-0.04 to -0.06MPa).
    4. Water and Electricity System Installation
Use pressure tanks or elevated water tanks for water supply, wrapping with insulation cotton in winter. Bury drainage pipes below the frost line or use electric tracing heating for insulation. Install moisture-proof switches and sockets for the electrical system, with grounding resistance ≤ 4Ω.

Quality Acceptance Standards

1. Structural Safety
Wind resistance rating ≥ Grade 8, seismic fortification intensity complies with local regulations, floor bearing capacity ≥ 200kg/m² with no cracks.
2. Sanitation Performance
For septic tank tightness tests, water level drop ≤ 10mm after 24 hours of water injection; exhaust odor concentration ≤ 10; indoor ammonia concentration ≤ 0.2mg/m³.
3. Functional Use
Drainage time ≤ 5 seconds, doors and windows open flexibly, and ventilation window area meets standards.

Post-construction Maintenance and Management

Clean the septic tank every 3-6 months, add bacterial agents monthly for biodegradable toilets, and inspect the vacuum pump and clean filter devices weekly for vacuum toilets to ensure long-term stable operation.
