Hulunbeier Mobile Toilet Booth

Admin September 28, 2026

The Hulunbeier mobile toilet booth has remarkable features such as the integration of design and function, addressing regional challenges, coping with extreme climates, integrating into ethnic culture, having diverse materials and types, and being environmentally friendly.

Integration of Design and Function: In the grassland scenic areas of Hulunbeier, some booths are designed to resemble yurts, with white exteriors adorned with ethnic decorations. They not only serve functions such as tourist information and ticket guidance but also become popular check-in spots in the scenic areas, combining practicality with aesthetics.

Addressing Regional Challenges: Inner Mongolia has a vast territory, and its special topography leads to high construction costs, significant ecological impacts, and insufficient flexibility for fixed restrooms. The mobile toilet booths in Hulunbeier act as “mobile public service points”. They are distributed along the core routes in grassland tourist areas, with one booth set up every 10 - 15 kilometers to cover key tourist areas. In nomadic regions, they move along with the migration routes of herders. During large-scale events, they are deployed in batches as temporary facilities to meet high demand. As of 2023, more than 1,200 booths have been deployed across the region, covering 80% of the key tourist attractions and nomadic sumus (townships), significantly improving tourists' satisfaction with public restrooms.

Coping with Extreme Climates: Hulunbeier has long winters with low temperatures and summers with strong ultraviolet rays and frequent sandstorms. The mobile booths adopt double-layer insulated walls, electric floor heating systems, and solar ventilation caps to ensure that the indoor temperature remains above 12℃ in winter and achieve natural ventilation in summer. The windows use double-glazed glass with a 90% UV protection rate. The doors are equipped with sand-proof seals to withstand winds of up to force 8, ensuring normal operation in extreme environments.

Integrating into Ethnic Culture: The exterior design of the booths draws inspiration from traditional elements such as yurts and oboos. The domes adopt a circular structure, symbolizing “the round sky and the square earth”. The walls are decorated with traditional patterns such as scroll grass patterns and “cloud patterns” using eco-friendly paint that is not prone to peeling. Some booths also have special designs on their tops, highlighting ethnic cultural characteristics.

Diverse Materials and Types: There are booths made of metal carved panels, which are fire-resistant, heat-insulating, soundproof, and lightweight, suitable for a wide range of scenarios. Mobile toilets can be classified into various types based on materials, structural forms, mobility methods, and sewage treatment methods to meet different needs.

Environmental Advantages: Energy-saving water-flush eco-friendly toilets use all-ceramic toilet fixtures that do not retain dirt or residue, have no odor in the toilet compartments, and are easy to maintain and clean. The mobile toilets are highly mobile and can be reused repeatedly, avoiding resource waste. They have diverse sewage treatment methods, occupy a small area when in motion, save manpower, material resources, and financial resources, adopt a water-saving mode, and have spacious interiors.
