Renovation of Mobile Toilets in Rural Areas of Hubei
Rural areas in Hubei have policy support and practical measures for the renovation of mobile toilets, along with clear regulations on delivery, installation, pricing, and maintenance.

Policy Support
Hubei is vigorously promoting the "Toilet Revolution." According to the "Five-Year Action Plan for the Improvement and Enhancement of Rural Living Environments in Hubei Province," rural areas are required to build or renovate sanitary toilets. The government provides subsidies to eligible townships and villages. Mobile toilets, as temporary or long-term solutions, are within the scope of policy support.
Practical Measures
Different regions are advancing toilet renovation work based on local conditions. Jiangling County has included "rural toilet renovation" in its livelihood projects, determining renovation models based on population density and strictly adhering to norms and guidelines for acceptance standards. By the end of September 2024, the county completed the annual task of renovating 7,446 households' toilets and will continue to advance the work in 2025. Yanwo Town in Honghu City plans to complete the construction and renovation of 622 rural toilets in 2026, strictly controlling key aspects such as three-chamber septic tanks and implementing a "first-toilet qualification system" to ensure quality.
Delivery and Installation
Most main roads in townships have been hardened, but narrow roads may exist in remote villages. It is necessary to contact logistics in advance to confirm vehicle sizes, and overweight or oversized equipment requires permits for oversized transportation. Installation should avoid underground pipelines, high-voltage lines, and other facilities. The village committee should uniformly plan the site selection. Generally, a mobile toilet occupies about 3 - 5 square meters and is suitable for areas with high foot traffic such as squares, scenic spots, and markets. Different types of mobile toilets have different delivery characteristics; trailer-type toilets are suitable for areas with road infrastructure, while assembled-type toilets are suitable for areas with complex terrain.
Pricing and Maintenance
The price range for rural mobile toilets is wide, with basic models costing approximately 3,000 - 8,000 yuan and high-end models reaching over 20,000 yuan. During use, it is necessary to regularly inspect water and electricity connections and choose suppliers with after-sales support to ensure the normal operation and long-term maintenance of mobile toilets.
