Huangshi Container House

Admin September 15, 2026

The Huangshi container house is a movable temporary building with a steel structure frame as its core, adopting modular design and factory prefabrication. It features rapid construction, low cost, and recyclability, and is widely used in scenarios such as temporary construction sites, cultural tourism homestays, and emergency shelters.

I. Core Structure and Process Characteristics

The Huangshi container house differs from traditional movable plank houses in its core steel structure frame. The national standard container frame is welded from profiled steel. The thickness of the main beams and columns, the fullness of the welding process, and the overall galvanizing or spraying anti-corrosion treatment of the container body are key indicators that directly affect the load-bearing capacity, lifting and stacking safety, and service life (usually up to 5-15 years) of the house. For example, the container houses produced by Wuhan Jinxiang Light Steel Housing Co., Ltd. have frames welded from standardized profiled steel to ensure structural stability.

II. Mainstream Types and Applicable Scenarios

According to differences in process and function, the container houses circulating in the Huangshi market are mainly divided into:

  1. Foldable Containers: In the folded state, the volume is only 1/5 of that in the expanded state. Four workers can complete the setup in 10 minutes, with low transportation costs, suitable for large-scale emergency orders or cross-regional frequent relocation projects.
  2. Quick-Assembly Packing-Box Units: The standard specifications are 5950mm×3000mm×2800mm. They are fully bolted and do not require on-site welding. Four workers can complete the assembly in 3 hours. They are equipped with an independent drainage system and are suitable for scenarios such as construction site offices and employee dormitories.
  3. Corrugated Containers: They use corrugated steel plates as the main exterior wall material, with high structural strength and excellent impact resistance, suitable for industrial and mining plant areas, mining areas, and other scenarios with high wear resistance requirements.

III. Advantages and Limitations

Advantages:

  • Cost Optimization: Compared with traditional color-steel plank houses, container houses have significant advantages in terms of material recovery rate (over 90%), construction period (shortened by over 90%), and transportation costs (a 6m vehicle can carry 6 sets).
  • Environmental Protection and Recyclability: They meet green building standards, can be folded repeatedly over 500 times, and have a long service life.
  • Functional Expandability: Through modular combination, they can form conference rooms, dormitory buildings, office areas, and even three-story commercial blocks, adapting to diversified needs such as cultural tourism homestays and emergency shelters.

Limitations:

  • Spatial Comfort: Some types (such as foldable containers) have limited internal space and need to be enhanced with double-wing expansion containers or glass curtain wall containers to improve comfort.
  • Climate Adaptability: Under extreme climate conditions, additional insulation, heat insulation, or wind protection designs are required.
