How to Weld the Base of a Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
When welding the base of a container house, it is necessary to select appropriate channel steel, weld the main beams according to specifications, ensure they are flat and square, and finally carry out anti-rust treatment.

Channel Steel Selection and Cutting
- Channel Steel Selection: Usually, 5X10 channel steel is selected as the main beam material, and its specifications need to meet the load-bearing requirements. For example, for a 3m6m residential container, 14050 channel steel is used for welding around the chassis, and 482.0 square steel is selected for the crossbeams with a spacing of 35 centimeters to ensure structural stability.
- Cutting Treatment: If channel steel needs to be spliced, its sides should be cut at a 45-degree angle. The specific operation involves measuring the side width of the channel steel, marking it as a square, and then drawing a diagonal line to cut it, forming a 45-degree bevel. After cutting, check the angle accuracy to avoid misalignment during splicing.
Base Welding and Alignment
- Splicing and Welding: Splicing the cut channel steel according to the designed dimensions, before welding, confirm that the diagonal lengths are consistent (difference ≤ 3mm) to determine if the base is square. During welding, use spot welding to fix all connection points to prevent deformation during the welding process.
- Flatness Control: The base should be placed on a flat ground or a workbench for welding. Use a level or a spirit level to level it. When adjusting the height with shims, use no more than three pieces. After welding, check the overall flatness to ensure there is no distortion or tilt.
Anti-Rust and Reinforcement Treatment
- Anti-Rust Treatment: After welding, grind off the rust on the surface of the channel steel and apply anti-rust paint to extend its service life. For example, after welding the base of a distribution cabinet, anti-rust paint should be applied for protection.
- Reinforcement Measures: According to requirements, screws can be welded inside the base for connecting the ground wire. If further structural strength enhancement is needed, full-welding technology can be used to weld the columns and the ring beams. For example, 552.0 square steel can be fully welded to connect the house columns and the roof ring beams.
Precautions
- Material Matching: Select appropriate materials according to the type of container. Steel containers have high weldability but require attention to anti-corrosion treatment; aluminum alloy containers have poor weldability and require other connection methods.
- Standard Operation: During the welding process, follow safety regulations and wear protective equipment to avoid sparks causing fires or burns.
