How to Use Mobile Tent Toilets

Admin October 08, 2026

The method of using mobile tent toilets should be chosen according to the actual situation of the campsite, as follows:

I. Usage in remote campsites where digging is possible
If the campsite is located in a very remote area with low foot traffic, you can bring a shovel as a tool. First, select an open area and use the shovel to dig a sufficiently deep pit. It is recommended that the pit be 30-50 centimeters deep to ensure that feces can be fully buried and reduce odor diffusion. When digging the pit, make sure the bottom is neatly trimmed, especially the area where your feet will be placed, to avoid accidents caused by uneven ground during use. The excavated soil should be stacked beside the pit for later use. After each use of the toilet, you can use the shovel or your foot to scoop a small amount of soil to cover the excrement. Each layer of coverage should be about 5-10 centimeters thick to reduce odor and the risk of mosquito infestation. Finally, when breaking camp, all the excavated soil should be refilled into the pit to restore the ground to its original state and minimize environmental damage. Additionally, you can sprinkle a small amount of insect repellent, such as sulfur powder, around the toilet. It is advisable to cover an area of about 50 centimeters around with sulfur powder, which can effectively repel snakes, insects, and other unwelcome guests, enhancing safety during use.

II. Usage in campsites where digging is not suitable
If the campsite has hard geology (such as rocky ground) or is protected (such as in nature reserves where digging is prohibited), you will need to use a folding toilet, garbage bags, and feces solidifying agents. Choose a folding toilet with a sturdy structure and strong load-bearing capacity. Before use, place a garbage bag inside the toilet to ensure it fits snugly without gaps. After excretion, pour an appropriate amount of feces solidifying agent into the garbage bag. The amount of solidifying agent should be adjusted according to the amount of excrement; generally, 10-15 grams of solidifying agent are needed for every 500 milliliters of excrement. It can quickly absorb moisture and solidify feces, reducing odor and leakage risks. After use, seal the garbage bag tightly to prevent spillage and store it separately without mixing it with other garbage.

III. Supplementary methods for hygiene maintenance and garbage disposal
To further enhance hygiene, you can completely cover the folding toilet with a black garbage bag to form a double isolation layer. Choose a black garbage bag with a thickness of at least 0.03 millimeters to prevent breakage. Pour an appropriate amount of cat litter into the bottom of the garbage bag. It is advisable to cover the bottom with 1-2 centimeters of cat litter, which can quickly absorb urine and neutralize odors. After excretion, use wet toilet paper to wipe your private parts. Choose a medical-grade wet toilet paper without alcohol or fragrance to avoid skin irritation. After wiping, tightly seal the used garbage bag and then place a new garbage bag over it to form a “double-bag isolation”. Finally, place all the used garbage bags into a larger external garbage bag. Choose an external garbage bag that is puncture-resistant and leak-proof to ensure no leakage during transportation. When leaving the campsite, take the garbage bags to designated garbage disposal points and do not discard them randomly in the natural environment.
