How to Set Up Inside a Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

The interior setup of a container house requires comprehensive consideration of functionality, space utilization, ventilation and lighting, safety and privacy, as well as aesthetics and comfort. Specific planning can be carried out from the following aspects:

1. Clarify functional requirements Divide functional areas according to their purposes (residential, office, commercial, etc.). For example, a residential type needs to have bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a bathroom; an office type can be designed with an open work area and a rest area; a commercial type requires dividing a business area and a storage area. The division of functional areas should align with actual usage scenarios to avoid wasting space.

2. Reasonable layout planning

  • Residential layout:
    • For single individuals or small families: Adopt a "one-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, one-bathroom" design. The bedroom is equipped with a 1.5 - 1.8-meter bed, and the living room uses foldable tables and chairs to save space. The kitchen is configured with a single-burner stove and a small refrigerator, and the bathroom has a compact design (including a toilet, a washbasin, and a shower area).
    • For multiple occupants: Choose a "two-bedroom, one-living room, one-kitchen, one-bathroom" layout. The bedrooms have 1.2 - 1.5-meter beds, and the living room can accommodate 3 - 4 people for activities. The kitchen countertop is extended to 1.5 - 2 meters, and the bathroom has a wet-dry separation design (with an area of 2 - 3 square meters).
  • Office layout: Adopt an open design. The work area is equipped with desks and storage cabinets, the rest area uses a foldable sofa bed, the kitchen adopts a mini bar, and the bathroom retains basic functions.
  • Commercial layout: The front part, covering 8 - 10 square meters, is the business area (with shelves arranged along the walls). The back part has a storage area and a simple bathroom, and the central area is left for customer activities.

3. Maximize space utilization

  • Vertical space: Install overhead cabinets, wall-mounted storage cabinets, and loft beds to reduce ground occupation.
  • Multi-functional furniture: Choose foldable beds, foldable tables, sofa beds, etc., which can be folded up when not in use.
  • Three-dimensional storage: Utilize the corrugated inner walls of the container to customize built-in storage cabinets, integrate electrical appliances and pipelines; hide air-conditioning pipes in the ceiling and set up triangular niche storage compartments at corners.

4. Pay attention to ventilation and lighting

  • Ventilation design: Open windows or vents on the sides or top to ensure natural ventilation volume. The windows should take into account both anti-theft and rainproof functions.
  • Lighting optimization: Give priority to using natural light and improve the lighting effect through window and skylight designs. If natural light is insufficient, supplement with energy-saving lamps.

5. Ensure safety and privacy protection

  • Structural stability: Regularly inspect the load-bearing structure of the container to ensure it can withstand wind and snow pressure, and promptly repair potential hazards.
  • Privacy design: Place private spaces (such as bedrooms and bathrooms) on the inner side or in enclosed areas, and use curtains, screens, etc., as partitions to enhance privacy.

6. Focus on aesthetics and comfort

  • Color matching: Choose soft or neutral colors to create a warm atmosphere and maintain a unified overall style.
  • Decoration design: Enhance aesthetics and increase living comfort through soft furnishings such as paintings, green plants, and carpets.
