How to Replace a Squat Toilet in a Mobile Toilet

Admin October 22, 2026

Replacing a squat toilet in a mobile toilet requires different steps depending on the drainage method. Here are the specific operations:

1. Determine the Drainage Method

Observe the ceiling of the restroom: if you can see the sewage pipes of the upstairs neighbors, it is lower-level drainage; if not, it is same-level drainage. The drainage method directly affects the replacement steps and waterproofing requirements.

2. Replacement Steps for Lower-Level Drainage

  1. Preliminary Preparation

    • Close the main water valve, remove the water tank, and seal the sewage outlet with a special sealing tool to prevent sewage backflow.
    • Use professional tools (such as an angle grinder) to carefully break the tiles around the squat toilet. Avoid自来水管 (water pipes) and the waterproof layer during demolition to prevent secondary damage.
  2. Install the New Squat Toilet

    • Determine the installation direction based on the position of the sewage pipe. Align the sewage outlet of the squat toilet with the sewage outlet of the PVC110 pipe, ensuring the insertion depth meets the requirements of the product manual.
    • Adjust the levelness of the squat toilet with red bricks or cement mortar to ensure a tight fit between the sewage outlet and the pipe, preventing leakage.
  3. Post-Installation Handling

    • After installing the water tank, seal the upper end of the 40 elbow pipe with plastic film or a special plug to prevent dust or debris from entering the pipe.
    • If the original waterproof layer is damaged during demolition, reapply waterproof coating (such as polyurethane waterproof coating). After waterproofing, conduct a 7-day water closure test to observe for any signs of leakage on the ceiling or walls downstairs.
    • After the water closure test is passed, re-lay the floor tiles. Wait for the tiles to harden (usually 24-48 hours) before use.

3. Replacement Steps for Same-Level Drainage

  1. Clean the Backfill Layer For same-level drainage, first clean the backfill layer (such as expanded clay or cement mortar) around the squat toilet to expose the sewage pipe and waterproof layer, providing space for the installation of the new squat toilet.

  2. Installation and Waterproofing

    • The installation steps are the same as for lower-level drainage, but special attention must be paid to the waterproof layer: after replacement and re-backfilling, apply waterproof coating on the surface of the backfill layer and around the squat toilet to form double protection.
    • The water closure test requirements are the same as for lower-level drainage, ensuring no leakage before proceeding to the next construction step.

4. Determining Whether to Break the Floor Tiles

  1. When Breaking is Not Necessary If the squat toilet is fixed with adhesive after the floor tiles are laid, it can be directly disassembled without breaking the tiles.

  2. When Breaking is Necessary If the squat toilet is installed below the floor tiles and then fixed to the tiles with adhesive, the tiles must be broken for removal. After breaking the tiles, the waterproof layer must be redone, and a strict water closure test must be conducted.

5. Installation Precautions

  1. Anti-Breakage Measures Squat toilets are mostly made of ceramic materials. When handling and installing, lay soft cloth or foam board on the ground to avoid direct collision with hard objects.

  2. Drilling and Glue Application Specifications

    • When drilling holes in the ground for installation, use a professional electric drill and control the depth to avoid damaging the pipelines downstairs.
    • Solid adhesive must be heated and melted before use. When applying the adhesive, use a special tool to prevent the adhesive from overflowing and contaminating the tile surface.
