How to Rent a Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

There are various ways to rent a container house, and you can choose the appropriate method based on your needs, as follows:

1. Contact the Manufacturer or an Agent Directly
There are two ways to rent a residential container house: directly contact the container house manufacturer or through a real estate agency. Contacting the manufacturer directly is more efficient as you can directly communicate your needs (such as house type and configuration) and understand the details of the rental contract (such as rent, lease term, deposit, etc.). Using an agent requires paying a certain service fee, but you can get more housing options.

2. Rent as a Whole or by Division

  • Whole Rental: Rent the entire temporary container house to an individual or enterprise. The tenant can decorate and arrange it independently and enjoys an independent space, suitable for long-term living or office needs.
  • Divided Rental: Divide the house into multiple independent units and rent them out to different tenants separately. Tenants can choose units according to their needs, suitable for shared living or short-term living scenarios.

3. Managed Rental
Entrust the house to a professional rental company, which will be responsible for management, tenant recruitment, and rent collection. The rental income and lease term are determined through negotiation between the two parties, suitable for landlords who have no time to manage the house but need to pay a certain management fee.

4. Cooperative Rental
The house owner cooperates with a rental company or enterprise and rents the house to the partner for use. The partner can decorate it according to their needs, and the two parties share the rental income as agreed in the contract, suitable for enterprise temporary offices or project sites.

5. By Lease Term

  • Long-term Rental: Usually for one year or longer. The tenant pays a fixed rent and enjoys stable living rights, suitable for long-term living or office use.
  • Short-term Rental: The lease term ranges from a few days to a few months, suitable for travelers, project staff, or exhibition participants who need temporary accommodation.

6. Through Rental Sharing Platforms
Platforms similar to Airbnb offer accommodation container rental services. Tenants can make reservations through the platform and flexibly arrange their stay according to time and budget, suitable for short-term travel or temporary needs.

7. Hotel-style Service Rental
Some accommodation containers offer hotel-style services, including cleaning, bedding replacement, and front desk reception. Tenants can enjoy a convenient living experience, but the rent is usually higher.

8. Rent-to-Own
Tenants can choose to convert the rental fee into a purchase fee and have the right to purchase the container house after the lease term expires, suitable for tenants who plan to live long-term and hope to eventually own the house.

Other Precautions: A deposit (usually one month's rent) is required when renting to ensure the integrity of the house and equipment. The freight is borne by the tenant, and the specific amount needs to be communicated and confirmed with the manufacturer or agent.
