How to Remove the Bottom of a Mobile Toilet

Admin October 02, 2026

If the toilet seat part of a mobile toilet is fixed with structural adhesive, follow these steps for removal:

Cut off the water supply and empty the tank
Before removal, close the toilet's water inlet valve to prevent continuous water supply during subsequent operations. Then, flush the toilet to empty the water tank and pipes, and use a dry cloth to thoroughly absorb any residual water at the bottom of the toilet to avoid affecting the adhesive softening effect or causing a slippery operation area.

Soften the adhesive

  • Hot air heating: Use a hairdryer or industrial hot air gun (set the temperature to 80℃ - 120℃) and continuously heat along the edge of the toilet base for 3 - 5 minutes. If using the medium-low temperature setting of a hairdryer (about 60 - 80℃), extend the heating time to 3 - 5 minutes. The hot air gun can also be used for continuous heating for 5 - 8 minutes, until it feels slightly hot to the touch. When heating, move the tool evenly to avoid local overheating that could damage the toilet or the floor.
  • Test the softening degree: Gently poke the adhesive at the edge of the toilet with a plastic prying tool. If the adhesive becomes sticky, appears translucent, or gradually softens after being heated, it indicates that it has reached an operable state.

Gradual prying and separation

  • Tool selection: Prioritize using non-metallic tools (such as nylon pry bars or wooden wedges). Insert them from the gap at the back of the toilet and gradually shake them left and right to expand the separation surface, preventing metallic tools from scratching the toilet or the floor.
  • Cut a breakthrough point: If the edge is completely covered with adhesive, use a utility knife to cut part of the adhesive along the base (about 10cm) to create an initial separation point. Then, heat the adjacent area again and repeat the operation until the entire toilet becomes loose.
  • Assist in loosening: Insert a utility knife 1 - 2 centimeters along the gap between the base and the floor, and insert a plastic sheet or a hard card to slowly slide and expand the gap. During this process, you can gently tap the side wall of the toilet with a rubber mallet to assist in loosening, but control the force evenly to avoid breaking the toilet.
  • Pry bar operation: If the gap is sufficient, insert the pry bar into the cut area and gently swing it up and down to gradually expand the separation surface until the toilet is completely loose.

Clean up residual adhesive

  • Floor treatment: Residual adhesive marks can be softened by soaking with acetone or a special adhesive remover and then removed with a plastic scraper. If the adhesive is thick, repeat the operation after cooling.
  • Ceramic surface repair: If there are slight scratches on the toilet base, use white toothpaste with a soft cloth to polish and restore the gloss. Cured adhesive can be sanded.

If there are baffles and lids on the drainage outlet of the mobile toilet:
Use iron sheets or other tools to pry open the baffles, turn the lids to the left to remove them, rinse them clean, and then reinstall them.
