How to Reinforce Mobile Toilets
Admin September 24, 2026
Reinforcing mobile toilets requires a comprehensive approach that combines site selection, securing methods, wind protection measures, and regular maintenance. Here are the specific methods:

I. Site Selection and Foundation Treatment
Prioritize areas that are flat, well-drained, and not directly exposed to strong winds, avoiding low-lying areas prone to water accumulation or soft ground. If the ground is soft, such as grass or sand, prepare it in advance by laying gravel, wooden planks, or steel plates to create a solid foundation and prevent toilet tilting due to ground settlement.
II. Installation of Securing Devices
- Ground Anchors: At the four corners or key load-bearing positions of the toilet, use expansion screws or ground anchor pins to connect securing chains (straps) to the ground. The depth of the ground anchors should exceed 30 centimeters. If space permits, concrete blocks or counterweights can be driven into the bottom, or ground anchors can be fixed by concrete pouring to enhance stability.
- Windbreak Ropes and Diagonal Bracing: Install windbreak ropes at the top of the toilet, with the other end fixed to ground stakes or heavy objects. In strong winds, adopt a 'well' shaped diagonal bracing method, using nylon or steel wire ropes to tighten the main body from different angles, forming a triangular tension structure. The ropes should be kept moderately taut, with spring clips added at both ends for easy adjustment.
III. Counterweights and Structural Reinforcement
- Additional Counterweights: Distribute heavy objects such as sandbags and water tanks evenly inside or outside the toilet, such as placing 2-3 sandbags of 20 kilograms each on both sides, or using water tanks filled with clean water. At least 4-6 sandbags should be placed on each side of the bottom. The counterweights should be adjusted according to the toilet area, generally not less than 50 kilograms per square meter.
- Door and Window Sealing: Check if the sealing strips are aged and replace damaged parts in a timely manner. Ensure that the locks are secure when closing doors and windows, and fill gaps with windbreak strips. During strong wind warnings, install windbreak panels on the inside of the doors to reduce wind pressure impact.
IV. Measures for Extreme Weather Conditions
- Temporary Reinforcement: Before the arrival of a typhoon, secure movable components (such as sinks and shelves) to prevent damage from shaking. Install windbreak brackets on the sides of the toilet, using steel pipes welded into diagonal bracing structures. Reinforce exposed pipelines, close ventilation openings, and cover the top of the equipment with windbreak covers if necessary.
- Material Upgrades: Use high-strength galvanized square tubes to weld steel structural frames, with a steel thickness of not less than 2.5mm at key load-bearing positions. After anti-rust treatment, the corrosion resistance is improved. The innovative diagonal bracing support system can enhance the wind resistance rating to level 12 and meet seismic requirements for level 8 earthquakes.
V. Regular Inspections and Maintenance
- Regular Inspections: During events, inspect the securing devices daily for looseness. Reinforce the windbreak ropes and add temporary supports in case of rain or strong wind warnings. If slight tilting of the toilet is detected, stop using it immediately and re-secure it.
- Long-term Maintenance: During the rental period, inspect the securing bolts, counterweight positions, and drainage hole patency weekly. Avoid water accumulation increasing weight and causing imbalance during the rainy season. Check the structural integrity before and after use to ensure the normal operation of the windbreak system. Before renting, confirm that the equipment has no rust or loose parts, focusing on checking connections such as screws and hinges.
