How to Prevent Mobile Toilets from Freezing
Preventing mobile toilets from freezing can be achieved through basic insulation, pipe anti-freezing measures, active heating systems, and other auxiliary methods. The specific approaches are as follows:

1. Basic Insulation Design
Adopt a double-layer wall structure, with color-coated steel plates on the outer layer and fireproof boards on the inner layer. Fill the 5cm-thick space between them with polyurethane foam or rock wool insulation layers to effectively block external low temperatures. Windows and doors should be equipped with EPDM rubber sealing strips, and ventilation openings should be upgraded to temperature-controlled louver devices to reduce heat loss. The drainage system requires special treatment: fill the area around the trap of the squat toilet with expanded perlite, and wrap the drainage pipes with a 50mm-thick insulation layer to prevent residual water in the pipes from freezing. The overall wall thickness should be increased to 10 - 15cm, with insulation materials filled inside to form a double barrier of 'insulation - heat insulation'.
2. Pipe Anti-Freezing Technology
Wrap self-regulating heating cables around the drainage pipes and equip them with intelligent temperature control boxes. When the ambient temperature drops below 5℃, the heating will start automatically. The aluminum foil heat conduction layer can ensure that the total power of 75W maintains the pipe surface temperature above 5℃, adapting to extreme environments of - 15℃. All pipelines should be covered with rubber insulating sleeves, and key nodes such as valves should be overlaid with double-layer insulation materials (such as glass wool + aluminum foil). Regularly check the tightness of pipe connections to prevent the infiltration of cold air.
3. Active Heating Systems
- Electric Heating Solution: Install PTC ceramic heating plates on the walls of the toilet area. They can raise the temperature by 15℃ within 5 minutes, and the surface temperature is controlled below 60℃ to avoid the risk of scalding. Paired with temperature sensors for automatic constant temperature control, energy-saving air conditioning systems can maintain the indoor temperature above 0℃. Some mobile toilets are equipped with radiators, which ensure that the water pipes do not freeze at temperatures as low as - 20℃ through circulating hot water.
- Fuel-Fired Hot Air System: A fuel-fired hot air blower with a power of 30000kcal/h evenly distributes hot air through air ducts, raising the temperature of a 5㎡ space by 15℃ within 30 minutes. It is suitable for extreme weather conditions below - 20℃. Regularly check the fuel reserves and equipment operation status.
- Municipal Heat Source Utilization: Scenic spots with the necessary conditions can connect to the central heating system and achieve continuous and stable heating through radiators. This method has relatively low costs but depends on external heating conditions.
4. Other Auxiliary Measures
Use thickened titanium-magnesium alloy doors paired with special locks for occupied/unoccupied status to reduce heat loss caused by door opening and closing. Equip with 304 stainless steel squat toilets and PE energy-saving water tanks to enhance the cold resistance of the equipment. Utilize the 50 - 60℃ hot air generated by the aeration fan of the treatment equipment to preheat the water body. Integrate an intelligent control system (including temperature sensing, power adjustment, and fault alarm functions) to achieve 24-hour unattended operation.
