How to Prevent Insects in Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

Preventing insects in container houses requires comprehensive measures in design, material selection, and environmental management:

I. Insect Prevention Measures During the Design Phase The foundation design of container houses is crucial for insect prevention. Using independent pile foundations to elevate the container can block direct contact between ground moisture and pests, while also facilitating site leveling and reducing environments conducive to insect and ant infestations. Additionally, strict control over the sealing design of the container is necessary to ensure there are no gaps at doors, windows, or wall joints, preventing insects and ants from entering through these openings.

II. Insect-Resistant Properties of Material Selection Some container houses use special panels that naturally repel insects. For example, using magnesium oxide boards as wall or floor materials provides properties such as corrosion resistance, fire resistance, insect resistance, and anti-aging, effectively extending the house's lifespan and reducing pest risks. If ordinary metals or wood are used, metals should be coated to prevent corrosion, and wood should be treated for moisture resistance to avoid decay that attracts insects and ants.

III. Environmental Management and Daily Maintenance

  1. Maintain Dryness: Insects and ants prefer humid environments, so indoor humidity should be controlled through ventilation and dehumidification equipment (such as air conditioner dehumidification functions) to prevent condensation on walls and floors.
  2. Regular Inspections: Regularly inspect the waterproof layers on the exterior walls and roof of the container for integrity, promptly repairing any peeling paint or damaged areas to prevent rust or material aging from creating entry points for insects and ants.
  3. Cleanliness and Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness both indoors and outdoors, promptly cleaning up food residues, garbage, etc., to reduce food sources for insects and ants.

IV. Auxiliary Insect Prevention Methods

  1. Physical Barriers: Lay gravel or concrete around the container to reduce vegetation cover and lower the likelihood of insects and ants approaching the house.
  2. Chemical Control: Spray environmentally friendly insect repellents around the house or place natural repellents like mothballs to form a chemical barrier.
  3. Biological Control: Utilize natural predators of insects and ants (such as ants' inhibitory effect on cockroaches) or biological agents (such as termite baits) for targeted control.
