How to Prefabricate Terrace House Structure

Admin September 18, 2026

The following steps and key points can be referred to for the construction of prefabricated terrace house structures:

I. Foundation Construction Foundation construction is the core part of the prefabricated terrace house structure. First, ground excavation is required to locate the main brick load-bearing beams, ensuring that the terrace steel beams are tightly integrated with the walls and fixed through welding. After completing the structural connections, tasks such as bricklaying and waterproof decorative surface work need to be carried out to meet the basic load-bearing requirements of the terrace main beams. At this stage, it is crucial to focus on checking the connection strength between the steel beams and the walls to prevent structural loosening due to settlement or vibration.

II. Main Framework Construction The choice of material for the main framework directly affects the service life and safety of the terrace. Common materials include aluminum alloy square tubes, steel structures, and thermal-break aluminum, among which hot-dip galvanized steel structures are widely used due to their high strength and good stability. During construction, it is necessary to ensure the verticality and levelness of the framework, with full and bubble-free welds, and the surface should undergo anti-rust treatment (such as spraying epoxy zinc-rich primer). Regular maintenance (such as repainting every 5 years) can extend the service life of the steel structure to several decades.

III. Material and Support Design For cantilevered terraces, support structures should be selected according to load requirements:

  • Steel Structure: Suitable for large-span terraces, with beam and column cross-sectional dimensions determined through calculation;
  • Brick-Concrete Structure: Suitable for low-rise buildings, with the addition of structural columns and ring beams to enhance overall stability;
  • Wooden Framework: Requires the use of rot-resistant wood and the installation of diagonal braces to prevent lateral deformation. Support points should be arranged at the four corners and the center of the terrace, with a recommended cantilever height of no more than 2 meters. For the terrace floor, a combination of steel structure + rot-resistant decking is recommended, with expansion joints reserved in the decking to prevent cracking due to thermal expansion and contraction.

IV. Protective Measures Due to the increased height of cantilevered terraces, safety protection is particularly important:

  • Guardrails: The height should be no less than 1.2 meters, using tempered glass or metal railings, with a spacing of less than 11 centimeters to prevent children from climbing;
  • Stairs: The slope should be controlled within 30°, with a step width of no less than 25 centimeters. A protective door should be installed at the stair entrance, equipped with a child lock;
  • Fall Prevention Net: An invisible protective net should be installed below the terrace to prevent objects from falling and causing injury.

V. Waterproofing Treatment The connection between the terrace and the house is a weak point for waterproofing and requires special attention:

  • Wall Waterproofing: After removing the exterior wall decorative layer, lay SBS modified asphalt waterproofing membrane 40 centimeters above the ground, with the membrane extending 30 centimeters above the terrace floor;
  • Floor Drainage: The terrace floor should be sloped 2%-3% towards the drainage outlet, with a drainage outlet diameter of no less than 10 centimeters;
  • Sealant: Fill weather-resistant silicone sealant at the connections between the steel beams and the walls, as well as at the joints of the decking, to prevent rainwater infiltration.
