How to Move Dog Toilet

Admin September 24, 2026

Training a dog to use a movable toilet can be achieved through steps such as preparing tools and areas, cleaning the area, and using training methods.

Preparing Tools and Areas

  • Selecting the Right Type of Dog Toilet: For puppies or dogs kept indoors, prioritize a combination of a "dog toilet + pee pad". It is recommended to use a dog toilet with a fence, as this design can prevent the dog from running around while defecating, keeping the toilet area relatively clean. For pee pads, choose those with attractants, as the scent can entice the dog to go to the designated spot to defecate.
  • Fixing the Position of the Movable Toilet: Place the movable toilet in a fixed location that is easy to clean and move. A fixed position helps the dog form a memory of where to go to the toilet.

Cleaning the Area

  • Daily Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the area where the movable toilet is placed every day. First, use a mop to wipe the floor to remove surface dirt and dust.
  • Disinfecting and Deodorizing: Put disinfectant and toilet water in a basin, soak the mop in it, and then wipe the area again, especially the corners, to ensure no dirt or odor remains. After wiping, spray a deodorizer in the area to ensure that only the movable toilet has the smell of feces and urine, and no other room should have any such smell. Dogs mainly rely on their sense of smell to find a place to defecate, so this treatment makes it easier for the dog to find the movable toilet.

Training Methods

  • Observing Defecation Signals: Dogs usually exhibit some obvious actions before defecating, such as lowering their heads to sniff the ground, circling, suddenly stopping still, or raising their hindquarters slightly. Once these signals are detected, immediately say "go to the toilet" in a calm tone and gently carry the dog to the movable toilet.
  • Waiting and Rewarding: After placing the dog on the movable toilet, stand about 1 meter away and wait quietly. If the dog does not respond within 3 minutes, sprinkle a small amount of snack crumbs on the pee pad to induce it to defecate. Once the dog finishes defecating, immediately give it its favorite snack and praise it exaggeratedly to let the dog know it did the right thing.
  • Fixed Training Sessions: Conduct training at fixed times every day, such as 15 minutes after meals, after waking up, and after strenuous exercise. These are times when the dog is likely to defecate. Through repeated training, the dog's memory can be reinforced, and it will gradually develop the habit of defecating on the movable toilet.
