How to Make the Framework of a Container House
The fabrication of the framework for a container house should be carried out in steps such as construction preparation, foundation construction, framework processing, and assembly and reinforcement, with attention paid to the control of technical key points.

Construction Preparation
- Drawing Review: Carefully check the dimensions of the container units, detailed drawings of node connections, and load calculation sheets to confirm that the seismic grade, wind load capacity, and snow load meet the site conditions.
- Construction Plan Preparation: Define the foundation type, such as concrete strip foundations or steel pile foundations; reasonably select lifting equipment; determine the node connection process, which can be welding or bolt connection; and set quality control points simultaneously.
- Steel Selection: The main framework selects Q355B low-alloy high-strength structural steel, the connectors use 8.8-grade high-strength bolts, and auxiliary materials include E5015 welding electrodes, epoxy zinc-rich primers, and polyurethane topcoats.
- Material Inspection: Check the factory certificates, quality assurance documents, and mechanical property test reports of the steel to ensure that the steel surface is free from cracks, folds, and other defects.
- Site Leveling: Clear debris from the site, backfill with graded sand and gravel, and compact it. Set up drainage slopes and surrounding drainage ditches.
- Surveying and Setting Out: Use a total station to locate the axes and a level to determine the elevations, controlling the axis deviation within ±3mm and the elevation error ≤ ±5mm.
Foundation Construction
- Concrete Foundation: The cross-sectional dimensions of the strip foundation are 400mm × 300mm, with a concrete strength grade of C30. Embedded steel plate embedments are provided, and the curing period is not less than 7 days.
- Steel Pile Foundation: Suitable for soft soil foundations, spiral steel pipe piles are used, with steel plates welded at the pile tops. The verticality deviation of the pile bodies is ≤ 1%.
Framework Processing
- Cutting and Blanking: Use a CNC plasma cutting machine to process the section steel, controlling the verticality deviation of the cutting surface ≤ 0.5mm, the allowable length deviation of the main beams ±2mm, and the verticality deviation of the columns ≤ 1mm/m.
- Welding Process: After cleaning the bevel, use direct current reverse polarity welding, controlling the current, voltage, and welding speed. The main nodes need to be fully welded to ensure fatigue resistance.
Framework Assembly and Reinforcement
- Side Panel Welding: Use corrugated panels, ensuring that the panels are flat and the joints are tightly fitted.
- Base Welding: Use channel steel as the main beams, welded around the upper and lower bases, ensuring uniform welds and no porosity.
- Column Welding: The column thickness is not less than 1mm, and it is fully welded at the connections with the base and side panels to ensure verticality.
- Framework Reinforcement: Check all connection points and reinforce weak areas by supplementary welding or adding angle irons to ensure that the framework can withstand long-term use and external pressures.
Technical Key Points
The steel framework is welded from cold-formed thin-walled section steel or hot-rolled section steel, bearing vertical loads, wind loads, and seismic actions. The arrangement of columns, beams, and diagonal braces directly affects the load transfer path, and the node connection process affects the overall stability. The steel specifications, framework spacing, node treatment, and surface anti-corrosion treatment (such as hot-dip galvanizing or epoxy zinc-rich primers) affect the service life of the container body.
