How to Make Prefabricated Panels for New House Roofs

Admin September 19, 2026

The construction of prefabricated panels for new house roofs must strictly adhere to specifications, with careful control from material selection to installation details. The key points are as follows:

  1. Material Selection and Quality Control

    • Purchase prefabricated panels produced by reputable large manufacturers, ensuring that the steel bars used are prestressed, the concrete strength is not less than C30, and the specifications and quantity of steel bars meet national standards.
    • Visual inspection is crucial; the surface of the prefabricated panels should be free from obvious defects such as cracks, honeycombs, and holes to avoid structural safety hazards caused by material issues.
  2. Support Structure and Placement Requirements

    • The prefabricated panels should be placed on concrete components (such as ring beams) or walls. If the support is a concrete component, the length of the panel end should not be less than 80mm; if the support is a wall, the length of the panel end should not be less than 100mm.
    • The strength of the support structure must meet design requirements to avoid sinking or cracking of the prefabricated panels due to insufficient support.
  3. Installation Gap and Bonding Treatment

    • When installing, a gap of 20-40mm should be left between two prefabricated panels to accommodate temperature changes and structural deformation.
    • After installation, mortar should be applied at the bottom ends of the panels to enhance bonding strength; the holes at the ends of the prefabricated panels in the walls should be filled with concrete to prevent water penetration.
  4. Panel Joint Treatment and Curing

    • The joints between prefabricated panels should be thoroughly cleaned of debris, first poured with cement mortar and vibrated densely; if the joint is large (exceeding 40mm), it should be poured with concrete and covered for curing. It is prohibited to fill the joint with bricks to avoid affecting the structural integrity.
    • During curing, the joint should be kept moist to avoid cracking due to rapid drying.
  5. Roof Waterproofing Treatment

    • To prevent leakage, when using prefabricated panels for the roof, it is recommended to first lay a layer of steel mesh and then pour a layer of crushed stone concrete with a thickness of 6-8mm. The steel mesh can enhance the overall integrity of the roof, and the crushed stone concrete layer can effectively seal the joints of the prefabricated panels, improving waterproofing performance.
    • During construction, ensure that the concrete is poured evenly to avoid weak links.

Summary: The construction of prefabricated panels for new house roofs requires careful control throughout the process, from material selection, support, installation, joint treatment, to waterproofing measures, strictly adhering to specification requirements to ensure structural safety and functionality.
