How to Make a Prefabricated House Roof

Admin September 18, 2026

There are various methods for constructing a prefabricated house roof, including covering with insulation panels, applying cement coating, installing gypsum board ceilings, and enhancing paint techniques. Details are as follows:

Covering with insulation panels is a common and practical method. Commonly used insulation panels include EPS boards, XPS boards, and rock wool boards. EPS boards (expanded polystyrene boards) are lightweight and have good thermal insulation properties; XPS boards (extruded polystyrene boards) have higher compressive strength and lower water absorption rates; rock wool boards, primarily made from natural minerals like basalt, offer excellent fire resistance. Covering these insulation panels on the roof of a prefabricated house can effectively block the transfer of indoor and outdoor heat, prevent temperature extremes from affecting occupants, reduce heat loss, and improve the house's energy efficiency. Especially in cold regions, the application of insulation panels can significantly reduce energy consumption for winter heating.

Applying cement coating is also a fundamental and important method. Applying a layer of cement to the roof of a prefabricated house can enhance the structural strength of the roof and ensure the structural safety of the house. At the same time, the cement layer can provide a certain degree of protection, effectively preventing erosion from weather conditions such as wind and rain, and increasing the waterproofing performance of the house. When applying cement, attention should be paid to the cement mix ratio and construction quality to ensure a uniform and dense cement layer, avoiding issues such as cracks and hollows.

Installing gypsum board ceilings is suitable for prefabricated houses with certain requirements for indoor aesthetics and comfort. Simply suspend a layer of gypsum board directly onto the prefabricated panels and then apply putty to the gypsum board. Due to the flexibility and crack resistance of gypsum board, this method eliminates concerns about cracking of the prefabricated panels. If handled properly, there will be almost no cracks, providing a flat and aesthetically pleasing ceiling for the interior.

Enhancing paint techniques primarily address potential joint cracks on the roof of a prefabricated house. Apply joint tape at the seams as the bottom layer of crack prevention measures, then add a layer of 10-centimeter-wide mesh fabric, treating the ceiling like a wall by covering it entirely with mesh fabric. This enhances the strength and stability of the seams, reducing the occurrence of joint cracks. When applying paint, choose high-quality, environmentally friendly paint products and follow the correct construction techniques to ensure the decorative effect and service life of the ceiling.
