How to Make a Container House

Admin September 17, 2026

Making a container house involves steps such as foundation treatment, assembly and reinforcement, installation of doors, windows, and roof, interior decoration and insulation, and detail refinement, typically taking three to five days to a week to complete. Details are as follows:

I. Foundation Treatment and Material Preparation Select a container that has undergone anti-rust treatment and cut the bottom and part of one side of the structure according to design requirements for easy lifting and transportation. If building in areas without existing foundations, such as wilderness, concrete piles need to be driven into the ground in advance, and the containers should be arranged on the pile foundations to ensure stability. At the same time, add crossbeams inside the container to enhance structural strength and provide support for subsequent construction.

II. Assembly and Reinforcement The house can be designed as a two-story structure. When two containers are joined on the first floor, a horizontal steel beam should be added at the bottom of the containers as a load-bearing beam, and the gap in the middle should be reinforced with three layers of super-strong adhesive to prevent rain leakage and water seepage. The bottom frame of the prefabricated container house should be connected to the lower corner fittings and bottom beams and fixed with bolts. After placing different specifications of battens and connecting them to the bottom beams, measure the diagonals to ensure perpendicularity.

III. Installation of Doors, Windows, and Roof Manufacturers usually reserve positions for windows and doors on the container. During installation, simply stack and place them according to the design. The roof is constructed in layers: first, lay a fiberboard ceiling, then cover it with a plastic film barrier to form a waterproof layer, install roof trusses and reserve drainage holes and wire holes, and finally frame the roof structure with墩板 (assuming it means some kind of support board, if there's a more accurate term, please replace it) and lay the wires.

IV. Interior Decoration and Insulation Treatment For interior decoration, install glass fiber wool to form a sound-insulating and insulating layer, lay a plastic film barrier, and then install smooth wooden panels as wall panels. The exterior wall should be added with 10cm-thick polyurethane insulation panels (extra-hard foam panels). This material has both insulation and fire-resistant properties. Adding fire-resistant raw materials during manufacturing can effectively prevent fires.

V. Detail Refinement Attach sealing strips on the inner sides of the columns, bottom beams, and top beams, and install the wall panels one by one, ensuring that the positions of doors and windows are flexible and adjustable (the height of the wall panel below the window is usually 940mm). Lay tiles on the roof and fix them on the inner side of the drainage trough. The four corners of the container house should be reinforced to enhance overall stability.
