How to Make a Portable Toilet Tutorial
Admin September 28, 2026
You can refer to the following two tutorials for making a portable toilet:

Making a Portable Toilet Using a Water Storage Barrel
- Barrel Modification: Take out a water storage barrel from home and use an angle grinder to split it in half lengthwise, providing basic space for installing other components later.
- Installing the Moving Device: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to facilitate the movement of the entire portable toilet.
- Raising the Barrel Height: Take several wooden strips and firmly fix them to the upper side of the barrel using self-tapping screws to increase the barrel's height, preparing for the installation of the roof and walls.
- Making the Door Frame: Use an angle grinder to cut an opening on the side of the water storage barrel. Install foam strips on both sides of the opening to create a sturdy door frame.
- Installing the Walls: Take a piece of plastic soft board and insert it between the wooden strips to form raised walls.
- Installing the Roof: Place the upper half of the water storage barrel steadily on top of the wooden strips to form the roof of the toilet.
- Aesthetic Enhancement: To improve aesthetics, apply a layer of white waterproof paint to the wooden strips.
- Drainage System: Use a hole-cutting tool to create a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drain pipe below it to form a floor drain. Cut holes on the side and bottom of a plastic bucket, connect them with direct fittings, and place the plastic bucket on top of the roof to create a small water storage device.
- Bathing Facilities: Connect a water pipe-made bath heater, install a three-way fitting below the water inlet pipe, and connect the three-way fitting to a showerhead.
- Toilet Installation: Place the toilet on the hole of the drain pipe, install the water tank, and secure the toilet with glass glue. Connect the drain pipe to a sewage bucket to ensure the effective operation of the entire system.
- Sink Installation: Horizontally connect a water pipe to the three-way fitting of the outlet pipe and extend it to the doorway as the inlet pipe for the sink. Connect one end of an external fitting to the inlet pipe and the other end to a hose. Use a hole-cutting tool to create a hole in the door and install corresponding components on the fitting.
Making a Portable Toilet Using a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet
- Installing the Moving Device: Take out a plastic pallet and fix a universal wheel at each of the four corners of the bottom of the pallet using tools to make the entire structure movable. Subsequently, you can further install a water storage tank, toilet, and other facilities based on needs to complete the functions of the portable toilet.
