How to Make a Mobile Toilet

Admin September 22, 2026

There are mainly two methods for making a mobile toilet: using a water storage barrel and using a water storage tank and a pallet. Here are the specific steps:

Making with a Water Storage Barrel

  1. Cut the water storage barrel: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage barrel in half, creating two semi-circular barrel bodies to prepare for building the main structure of the toilet.
  2. Install the mobile device: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board. This allows the entire mobile toilet to be easily moved to meet the needs of use in different locations.
  3. Increase the barrel height and create an opening: Use wooden strips and self-tapping screws to increase the height around the barrel body to make it suitable for human use. At the same time, create an entrance on the side of the barrel body for people to enter and exit.
  4. Build the walls and roof: Install sponge strips to form a door frame and embed plastic soft boards to create walls, providing some shelter and privacy protection. Use the upper half of the water storage barrel as the roof to provide wind and rain protection for the interior of the toilet.
  5. Install the drainage system: Make a hole at the bottom of the barrel and install a drainage pipe to form a floor drain for easy sewage discharge. Make a hole on the side and connect a direct joint to prepare for subsequent connection of the drainage pipe.
  6. Install sanitary ware: Install a toilet and a water tank, and fix them with glass glue to ensure stability. Connect the drainage pipe to the sewage tank so that the sewage can be smoothly discharged to the designated location.
  7. Set up hand-washing facilities: Extend a water pipe to the entrance as the inlet pipe for a hand-washing basin. Install a hand-washing basin, a faucet, and other related accessories to facilitate hand-washing after using the toilet.

Making with a Water Storage Tank and a Pallet

  1. Install mobile wheels: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of the bottom of the pallet to make the entire mobile toilet mobile.
  2. Process the water storage tank: Place the water storage tank and use an angle grinder to cut along the marked line at the top to create an open tank body, providing space for installing sanitary ware and for people to use.
  3. Stack and fix the tank bodies: Stack two open-top water storage tanks and fix the outer frame with self-tapping screws to enhance the structural stability.
  4. Create an entrance: Cut rectangular openings on the outer frame and the tank body of the water storage tank as entrances for people to enter and exit.
  5. Install the drainage pipe: Make a hole in the interior floor, insert an elbow and a water pipe, and seal the gaps to prevent sewage leakage.
  6. Install sanitary ware and accessories: Install and fix a toilet, and install accessories such as faucets and hand-washing basins to meet basic usage needs.
  7. Improve the shower facilities: Connect the toilet water tank and the shower hose, and install a showerhead to provide shower functionality.
  8. Install the door and connect the water pipes: Fix a wooden board as a door, install a door handle, and connect all the water pipes to make the water system of the entire mobile toilet complete.
