How to Make a Mobile Toilet

Admin September 21, 2026

The steps for making a mobile toilet using a water storage tank are as follows:

I. Basic Structure Construction

  1. Tank Modification: Use an angle grinder to split the water storage tank longitudinally along its central axis, creating two symmetrical half-tank structures. Ensure the cutting surface is flat to avoid gaps during subsequent assembly.
  2. Mobile Device Installation: Fix universal wheels at the four corners of a wooden board to form a movable base. The board's dimensions should be slightly larger than the tank's diameter to provide stable support.
  3. Height Extension: Vertically fix wooden strips to the upper edge of the tank using self-tapping screws to form a frame structure. The height of the strips can be adjusted according to actual needs, typically an increase of 20-30 cm is recommended to enhance comfort.

II. Functional Module Integration

  1. Door System: Cut a rectangular opening on the side of the tank as a doorway, and attach sponge strips on both sides to form a sealed structure. Use foam strips to拼接 (assemble) discarded honeycomb panels to make the door panel, and connect it to the door frame with hinges.
  2. Walls and Roof: Insert plastic soft panels into the gaps between the wooden strips to form walls, and cover the upper half of the tank on top as the roof. Ensure the soft panels are tightly connected to the wooden strips to prevent rainwater penetration.
  3. Water Storage Device: Drill a hole at the bottom of the roof tank to install a drain pipe, and connect a direct joint on the side to form an inlet channel. A support structure must be added to the bottom of the tank to prevent deformation due to the weight of stored water.

III. Sanitary Facility Installation

  1. Excretion System: Drill a hole at the bottom of the tank to install a drain pipe, and connect it to a sewage tank to form a floor drain. The toilet should be fixed above the drain with glass glue, and a three-way joint should be added to the water inlet pipe of the water tank to connect to a showerhead.
  2. Bathing Module: Modify the water pipe into a simple bath heater, and branch out a water supply pipe for the sink from the inlet pipe using a three-way joint. The sink should be fixed on an extended bracket of the door, and the outlet should be connected to a hose leading to the ground drainage system.
  3. Waterproofing Treatment: Apply white waterproof paint to all wooden structures, focusing on the joints of the wooden strips and the areas where screws are fixed, to ensure long-term durability without decay.

IV. Classification and Expansion Instructions
Mobile toilets can be classified by structural form into single-unit structures (independent units) and composite structures (modular combinations); by mobility into hoisting types (requiring lifting equipment), powered types (with built-in drive systems), and towed types (connectable to vehicles for transportation); and by sewage treatment methods into water-flush types (requiring a配套 (supporting) septic tank), waterless suction types (using degrading agents), and circulating water-flush types (water purification and reuse). Choose the appropriate type based on actual needs during production.
