How to Keep a Container House Warm
Admin September 15, 2026
Keeping a container house warm is mainly achieved by selecting appropriate insulation materials, optimizing wall structures, and adopting auxiliary heating measures.

Selection of Insulation Materials
- Exterior Wall Insulation Materials: Commonly used materials include EPS (expanded polystyrene) boards, rock wool boards, polyurethane boards, silicate wool, or foam polystyrene boards. These materials have excellent insulation properties and can effectively prevent heat loss through the walls. For example, polyurethane boards not only provide good insulation but also have certain fire-resistant properties, making them suitable for exterior wall insulation in container houses.
- Interior Wall Insulation Materials: Closed-cell insulation methods can be employed using materials such as rock wool or expanded perlite boards for interior wall insulation. Additionally, materials like plaster, clay walls, and wooden boards can also be used for spray-on insulation to further enhance the interior wall's insulation effect.
Optimization of Wall Structures
- Three-Layer Key Structure: Some high-quality container houses adopt a three-layer structure to improve thermal performance. The outer layer is made of anti-corrosion color-coated steel plates that reflect sunlight; the middle layer consists of a polyurethane foam layer over 50mm thick to block heat conduction; and the inner layer is composed of fire-resistant gypsum boards with a moisture-proof membrane, working together to control humidity and stabilize temperature. This structure results in a wall heat transfer coefficient of ≤0.45W/(㎡·K), with an insulation efficiency 1.8 times that of traditional brick-and-mortar walls.
- Application of Sandwich Panels: Sandwich panels with aluminum foil reflective layers are also an effective choice for enhancing insulation performance. The aluminum foil reflective layer can reflect part of the heat, reducing heat absorption, while the sandwich layer provides additional insulation.
Auxiliary Heating Measures
- Sunshade Canopies and Ventilation Slots: Installing adjustable sunshade canopies on the roof of the container house can effectively block direct sunlight and reduce heat absorption. At the same time, setting up ventilation slots at the bottom promotes air circulation, helping to lower indoor temperatures and maintain a cool environment.
- Sealing Inspection: Regularly inspecting the sealing of the container house to ensure that doors and windows are properly sealed can prevent cold air from entering the interior, which is also an important measure for maintaining indoor warmth.
