How to Introduce Container Houses

Admin September 15, 2026

Container houses are mobile building units formed by modifying standard containers as carriers. They have characteristics such as a sturdy structure, convenient transportation, and flexible modular combination, and are widely used in temporary office, accommodation, commercial, and cultural tourism scenarios.

I. Structure and Types

Container houses are based on standard containers, with common specifications of 20 feet (with a load-bearing capacity of about 25 tons) and 40 feet (with a load-bearing capacity of about 45 tons). Functional expansion is achieved through modification. According to their structure and use, they can be divided into:

  1. Standard container type: Single or multiple containers are spliced together, suitable for scenarios such as construction site command centers and project departments. They have strong structural stability and high wind and earthquake resistance levels (for example, Suzhou Zhongnan's products can withstand wind speeds of up to 12 levels and earthquakes of up to 8 levels).
  2. Extended type: Side or end extension cabins are added to the container, increasing the usable area by 30%-50% to meet the space requirements for long-term on-site office work.
  3. Creative customized type: Elements such as glass curtain walls and wood-grain finishes are combined for use in brand display and cultural and creative park scenarios, balancing functionality and visual design.
  4. Special scenario-adapted type: For example, the B&B 'Apple Pod' adopts a curved appearance to optimize wind resistance, and the walls are filled with rock wool or polyurethane for thermal insulation, adapting to coastal and mountainous environments.

II. Core Advantages

  1. Rapid deployment: High factory prefabrication level, with only hoisting and joint treatment required on-site. For example, Suzhou Zhongnan's packing containers can be used immediately after on-site hoisting, with a single installation taking only 2 hours.
  2. Cost control: The shortened material and construction period result in a comprehensive cost lower than that of traditional buildings. In the Qatar World Cup project, 1,000 accommodation modules were delivered within 3 months, shortening the construction period by 40%.
  3. Flexibility and reusability: They support single-container use or multiple-container splicing. When the number of disassemblies and assemblies exceeds 5 times, the risk of structural deformation only increases by 15%, making them suitable for frequent relocation needs.

III. Technical Points

  1. Structural stability: A fully steel structural frame is superior to bolt connections, and the weld strength must comply with the GB/T 19001-2016 standard. Under extreme working conditions, the frame deformation rate of compliant products is less than 0.3%, while non-standard white-label products may exceed 1.2%, posing safety hazards.
  2. Thermal performance compensation: A three-layer structure (outer layer of galvanized sheet, middle layer of rock wool insulation, and inner layer of PVC-coated steel sheet) is used, combined with an elevated bottom layer to block cold bridges, reducing indoor temperature fluctuations by 40% compared to traditional color steel plate houses.
  3. Spatial functional zoning: The fixed container size (such as 3 meters × 6 meters) necessitates the use of functional overlay strategies, such as integrated bathroom technology for waterproof integration, and wall-mounted folding tables and drop-down beds to improve space utilization.
