How to Insulate Container Houses
Admin September 15, 2026
Insulating container houses can be achieved through measures such as selecting high-quality insulation materials, optimizing structural design, improving airtightness, and incorporating temperature control equipment.

Select High-Quality Insulation Materials
- Wall Insulation: Materials like high-density insulation rock wool, polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam board, EPS (expanded polystyrene) board, and silicate wool can be used. These materials have low thermal conductivity and can effectively block heat transfer. For example, regular cultural tourism space capsules are filled with high-density insulation rock wool inside, combined with thermal break insulation technology to block heat and cold conduction; activity board houses in Guizhou's mountainous areas use color-coated steel sheets with rock wool cores, allowing indoor temperatures to be 8-10℃ higher than outdoor temperatures.
- Door and Window Insulation: Choose double or triple-glazed windows with thermal break aluminum frames, which have low thermal conductivity and good insulation performance, improving indoor temperature.
Optimize Structural Design
- Increase Insulation Layer Thickness: When constructing container houses, appropriately increasing the thickness of foam and other insulation materials can provide better insulation.
- Design Insulation Structures: Design insulation structures at connection points and corners, isolate the installation positions of doors and windows, and fill gaps to effectively reduce indoor temperature loss. For example, the outer layer of residential container houses is made of anti-corrosion color-coated steel sheets that reflect sunlight, the middle layer is more than 50mm thick polyurethane foam that blocks heat conduction, and the inner layer is fire-resistant gypsum board + moisture-proof film that work together to control humidity and stabilize temperature.
Improve Airtightness
- Ensure Door and Window Sealing: Install sealing strips around the edges of windows and doors to prevent heat leakage and cold air from entering the room.
- Treat Panel Seams: Leakage in space capsules often occurs at panel seams. Regular processes use waterproof membranes, fully seal with sealant, design reasonable drainage slopes, and overlap panels in the direction of water flow to achieve seamless sealing at seams, which also improves insulation.
Incorporate Temperature Control Equipment
Air conditioners, entrance air curtains, graphene floor heating, and small electric heaters can be added to regulate indoor temperature. For example, in activity board houses in Guizhou's mountainous areas, turning on a small electric heater at night can heat up the room in half an hour, without needing to run it all day, which is both warm and energy-efficient.
