How to Install Wall Panels in Container Mobile Homes

Admin September 17, 2026

There are mainly two methods for installing wall panels in container mobile homes: steel structure fixation and wooden keel fixation. The specific installation steps and precautions are as follows:

Installation Methods

  • Steel Structure Fixation: Place the wall panel on the steel structure of the container and use screws to tightly fix the wall panel to the steel structure. When the wall thickness of the container house is 50mm, it is recommended to use sus304 or sus316 screws. For example, 7.5-centimeter fireproof corrugated wall panels can be installed on-site using screw splicing.
  • Wooden Keel Fixation: First, fix the wooden keels to the steel frame of the container house, and then fix the wall panels to the keels. Note that directly fixing the wooden keels may damage the steel frame. It is recommended to install a waterproof membrane on the steel frame before fixing the keels. Additionally, the spacing between the keels should be reasonably set according to the thickness of the wall panels and the specifications of the foam boards.

Installation Precautions

  • Pre-installation Inspection: Before installation, check whether the installation of the rails and wall beams is correct, firm, and level. The vertical joints of metal sandwich panels should be spliced using tongue-and-groove joints or I-shaped aluminum, and sealant should be applied at the joints. The connection between metal sandwich panels and ground beams, wall beams, or floor secondary trusses should be bolted, with a horizontal bolt spacing of no more than 500mm and at least two bolts arranged in the width direction of each panel.
  • Installation of Cold-formed Thin-walled Steel Structures: Pre-embedded wall panels should be promptly installed in the slots on both sides of the columns. The upper and lower overlaps of embedded wall panels should use tongue-and-groove joints, with the outer panel overlapping downward and a lap length of no less than 15mm.
  • Fixation Position: The fixation position of the wall panels should be reasonably arranged according to the usage environment, considering factors such as usable area, shading, and ventilation. Avoid directly fixing the wall panels to the ground to prevent moisture and corrosion issues.
  • Fixation Point Setting: The spacing between fixation points on the wall panels should be uniform, and the number should be sufficient to ensure the wall panels are firmly fixed. The fixation points on the steel structure and wooden keels should also be set according to actual needs.
  • Material Selection: The wall panel materials should meet safety and environmental protection requirements, and their thickness should match the keel spacing to avoid deformation, cracking, or detachment. Try not to damage the surface of the wall panels during fixation.
  • Other Issues: Consider the actual situation for wall panel slotting and nail insertion. If nail insertion is required, use dedicated accessories and ensure the nail length matches the thickness of the wall panels.
