How to Install Portable Toilets

Admin September 27, 2026

The installation methods for portable toilets vary depending on the type, mainly divided into two categories: simple portable toilets and outdoor portable toilets. The specific steps are as follows:

Simple Portable Toilet Installation

  1. Check Components
Before installation, verify the product component list to ensure that the main body, flange, water inlet system components (angle valve, tee, hose), nozzle, and sealing ring are all present to avoid rework due to missing parts.

  2. Assemble the Main Structure
Assemble the various parts of the toilet main body according to the instructions, ensuring tight and seamless connections. Some models require the base to be installed first, followed by securing the water tank or waste tank.

  3. Install the Flange and Connect to the Drain Pipe
Place the flange over the toilet drain outlet, adjust its position to align with the center of the floor drain pipe, and ensure smooth drainage. The flange should be fixed with bolts or sealant to prevent leaks.

  4. Connect the Water Inlet System
Install the angle valve, tee, and hose in sequence, connecting the water inlet to the water source. The hose length should be appropriate to avoid excessive stretching or tangling, and the connections should be sealed with Teflon tape.

  5. Assemble the Nozzle and Test for Leaks
Install the nozzle in the designated position and check that the connection between the nozzle and the pipe is secure. Turn on the water source to test for leaks at all connections, and proceed to the next step only after confirming no issues.

  6. Apply Sealant for Stability
Apply waterproof silicone sealant around the base of the toilet where it contacts the floor to enhance stability and prevent odor leakage. The sealant should be applied evenly and allowed to dry completely before use.

Outdoor Portable Toilet Installation

  1. Prepare Tools and Materials
Equip yourself with tools such as an electric drill, 4.2mm drill bit, rivet gun, and level, as well as fixing components like rivets and screws that meet specifications.

  2. Install Inner Corner Pieces
According to the design drawings, install inner corner pieces at the joints of the panels and secure them temporarily with screws to form the initial structure frame.

  3. Align and Join Panels
Join the panels in sequence, ensuring that the slots are fully aligned to avoid misalignment and instability. Use a rubber mallet to gently tap and adjust the position during joining.

  4. Drill Holes and Secure with Rivets
Drill holes at the panel connections using an electric drill, with the hole diameter matching the rivets. Use a rivet gun to insert rivets into the holes and secure the panel structure. Use at least 2-3 rivets per connection.

  5. Adjust Drainage Slope (if necessary)
If a drainage system is involved, install a shift device before laying floor tiles and use a level to adjust the drainage slope to ensure smooth sewage discharge, with a slope generally not less than 2%.

Precautions: Read the product instructions carefully before installation. For complex operations, it is advisable to contact the manufacturer's technical support. After installation, conduct a comprehensive inspection to ensure there are no leaks or loose parts.
