How to Install a Mobile Toilet on the Rooftop
When installing a mobile toilet on the rooftop, you can refer to the same-floor drainage principle, build a drainage system using a sewage lift pump, and combine it with toilet displacement methods for reasonable layout.

1. Drainage System Construction
The key to installing a mobile toilet on the rooftop is to solve the drainage problem. Traditional drainage requires laying pipes downward, but construction on the rooftop is difficult and may damage the structure. By adopting the same-floor drainage principle and using a sewage lift pump to lift sewage from a low point to the main sewage pipe, you can avoid large-scale floor撬开 (prying open). Specifically, a sewage collection tank should be set up below the mobile toilet, connected to the sewage lift pump, and the pump's outlet should be connected to the main sewage pipe on the rooftop through pipes. This method is suitable for scenarios where direct connection to the main sewage pipe is not possible and offers relatively simple construction.
2. Toilet Displacement Methods
If you need to adjust the position of the toilet, you can choose from the following methods based on the displacement distance and layout requirements:
Using a Displacement Device
- Applicable Scenarios: Small-scale and short-distance displacement (10-30 cm, not exceeding 40 cm).
- Characteristics: Small changes, low cost, but may affect the flushing effect and increase the risk of blockage.
- Construction Points: A slope of 1%-3% should be reserved to ensure smooth sewage discharge and avoid water accumulation.
Raising the Floor Method
- Applicable Scenarios: Long-distance displacement where the layout is not restricted.
- Steps:
- Lay a toilet sewage horizontal pipe with a diameter of about 110 mm;
- Build a base platform using lightweight blocks, with a height suitable for one step (180-200 mm);
- Perform waterproofing and tile the floor.
- Advantages: Solves the problem of long-distance displacement but occupies a certain floor height.
Switching to Wall-Drain Technology
- Applicable Scenarios: Large-scale displacement where aesthetics and easy cleaning are desired.
- Steps:
- Install a vertical pipe tee and connect the horizontal sewage pipe to the target position;
- Install the water tank and toilet, and build a low wall to enclose the water tank and pipes (thickness 180-220 mm, height 900-1200 mm);
- Adjust the height of the low wall according to the water tank model.
- Note: Maintenance is slightly inconvenient, the cost is higher, and it cannot be moved to the diagonal wall of the sewage pipe or to the opposite side where there are other vertical pipes.
3. Construction Precautions
- Waterproofing: Strict waterproofing must be carried out during rooftop construction to avoid leakage affecting the structure below.
- Load Calculation: The weight of the mobile toilet and equipment must meet the load-bearing requirements of the rooftop, and reinforcement should be carried out if necessary.
- Ventilation Design: Ensure good ventilation in the toilet to reduce odor accumulation.
- Compliance: Before construction, confirm whether it complies with local building codes to avoid illegal operations.
