How to Install a Container House
Admin September 15, 2026
The installation steps for a container house mainly include base frame installation, steel structure assembly, wall and roof panel installation, door and window installation, and overall commissioning. The specific process should be selected according to the type of container (such as assembled, foldable, or packaged) and strictly adhere to safety regulations and construction standards.

I. Installation Process for Assembled Containers
Base Frame Installation
- Connect the bottom corners of the container to the base beams on a flat ground or workbench, using hex socket bolts for initial fixation. Tighten the bolts after adjusting the diagonal error of the base frame to be ≤3mm.
- Install π-shaped secondary beams, fix them through positioning holes and drive self-tapping screws, and reinforce the top with round-head drill tail screws. When laying the floor baseboard, cut the corners according to the chalk line, align the floor joint with the centerline of the π-shaped beam, fix it with cross-flat-head燕尾丝 (Note: '燕尾丝' may not have a direct English equivalent; it could be a specific type of screw; here it's kept as is for context, but in a real scenario, it should be replaced with the correct English term), with a nail spacing of 300-350mm.
- Grind the floor joints, apply PVC special adhesive, lay the floor covering, expel air, and weld the joints.
Steel Structure Assembly
- Tighten the square tube columns and steel beams with screws, check the perpendicularity and straightness, install the steel beams one by one, and correct their positions with a plumb line.
- Weld the horizontal supports and steel beam inserts, fix the square tube columns to the chassis iron, and ensure structural stability.
Wall and Roof Panel Installation
- Reserve positions for doors and windows, install the exterior wall panels, then cover the roof panels and complete the roof work (such as waterproofing).
- When installing the floor railings, ensure that the handrails are firmly connected to the railing posts, use steel plates or angle irons for the stair treads, and ensure the floor is stable without shaking.
II. Installation Process for Foldable Containers
- Unfolding and Supporting
- Check the stability of the steel wire ropes, lift the main frame and unfold it smoothly, and place support rods in the middle of the container to maintain stability.
- Wall Fixation
- Push open one wall and fix it with tightening screws, then push open the wall with doors and windows and tighten the screws.
- Lifting and Positioning
- Lift the foldable container house to the predetermined position, confirm that there is no one around, and then lower it. Non-professionals should stay away from the installation area throughout the process.
III. Installation Process for Packaged Containers
- Modular Assembly
- Prefabricate unit modules (including structural, floor, wall, and roof systems) in the factory, and quickly assemble them on-site through bolts or welding.
- Adjust the levelness of the house base to adapt to different ground requirements, and stack them up to three layers.
- Facility Configuration
- It can be used after connecting to water and electricity. Living facilities such as doors, windows, ceilings, and floors can be installed inside, and the installation can be completed on the same day.
Key Precautions
- Safety Regulations: Lifting operations must be carried out by professionals, and non-workers should stay away from the installation area. Use fire-resistant materials and equip with fire-fighting facilities.
- Quality Control: Check the perpendicularity of the steel structure, the tightness of bolts, and the welding quality to ensure no deviations. The joints between the floor and wall panels should be sealed.
- Environmental Adaptation: For long-term outdoor use, reinforce the corners, build concrete piers, and consider the drainage slope and sunscreen coating.
