How to Handle Mobile Toilets for Film Crews

Admin October 06, 2026

The handling of mobile toilets for film crews mainly includes aspects such as rental and selection, layout and maintenance, management and service, as well as handling special situations.

Rental and Selection: Film crews need to select appropriate mobile public toilets for rental based on the specific conditions of the shooting location, such as pedestrian traffic and user needs. The quantity and specifications of mobile toilets should be comprehensively determined based on factors such as the actual number of crew members and the shooting period. At the same time, mobile toilets are divided into standard and luxury types. Standard types meet basic usage needs, while luxury types are equipped with more comprehensive facilities, such as air conditioners and washbasins. Film crews can choose the appropriate model according to their actual needs and budget.

Layout and Maintenance: Properly arranging mobile toilets is crucial for ensuring their effective use. Film crews need to consider the actual situation of the shooting site, such as terrain and spatial layout, as well as the convenience and comfort of users, and place the mobile toilets in appropriate locations. At the same time, a cleaning and disinfection schedule should be established to regularly clean and disinfect the toilets to keep them clean and hygienic. In addition, ventilation and sewage disposal issues need to be considered to ensure good air circulation inside the toilets and timely disposal of excreta to avoid environmental pollution. When shooting outdoors and having no budget to rent toilet trucks or mobile toilets, film crews may adopt the method of digging pits to make simple earth toilets, putting garbage in separate bags, burying excreta with soil, and adding changing covers outside to meet temporary needs.

Management and Service: Film crews need to arrange dedicated personnel to manage and maintain the mobile toilets and promptly handle user needs and complaints. For example, the liaison producer is responsible for finding suitable toilet resources, the on-site producer is responsible for maintaining toilet hygiene to ensure that the facilities inside the toilets are intact and clean and orderly. The site staff is responsible for providing on-site route guidance to help users quickly find the toilet locations. At the same time, film crews also need to provide necessary sanitary products and facilities, such as toilet paper and hand sanitizer, to enhance the user experience.

Handling Special Situations: For situations where complex costumes need to be worn, such as when actors in historical drama shootings need to wear heavy costumes, film crews usually modify the costume structure to solve the problem of going to the toilet. For example, a diversion tube device can be hidden under the skirt of a historical costume, connected to a storage bag at the foot through a sealed hose, allowing actors to solve physiological needs during the shooting process without affecting the shooting progress and the aesthetics of the costumes.
