How to Do Beautiful Seams in Container Houses
Admin September 17, 2026
The beautiful seams in container houses should be done according to standardized procedures, and the following key points should be noted from the preliminary preparation to the completion and acceptance:

1. Select the Seaming Method and Materials
- Construction Method: Choose to do it yourself, purchase materials and hire workers, or contract out the entire project based on your needs.
- Types of Seam Fillers:
- Ordinary epoxy seam fillers: Cost-effective, but light colors are prone to yellowing.
- Epoxy colored sand: Matte texture, suitable for soft-light tiles.
- Polyurea seam fillers: Optimal in terms of environmental protection, adhesion, and yellowing resistance, making them the first choice for light-colored areas.
- Dosage Calculation: One bottle can cover 20-25 meters, and the dosage should be precisely calculated based on the total length of the seams.
2. Color and Style Design
- Color Matching Principles:
- Rely on physical sample boards rather than electronic color cards, and bring tile samples for on-site comparison.
- For matte and soft-light tiles, choose a color from the same color family that is one shade lighter; for glossy tiles, choose a color of the same depth or slightly darker.
- Tiles of different materials in the same space should be color-matched separately, and the final effect should be confirmed under natural light.
- Seam Type Selection: Determine whether to use flat seams or recessed seams, as well as the effect of glossy, soft-light, or matte colored sand.
3. Construction Time and Conditions
- Drying Waiting Period: After laying the tiles, wait for 7-14 days to ensure the seams are completely dry.
- Moisture Content Control: Before construction in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and balconies, check the moisture content of the base layer. If it exceeds the standard, allow it to dry for 1-2 days.
- Environmental Requirements: Avoid construction in rainy or humid environments to prevent abnormal curing of the seam filler.
4. Standardized Construction Process
- Seam Cleaning:
- Use professional tools to create neat seams and remove floating dust and cement blocks.
- Use a high-power vacuum cleaner to clean deep dust, and use a dry brush for secondary cleaning. No water is allowed throughout the process.
- Glue Application and Seam Pressing:
- After installing the mixing tube, hold the glue gun upright and apply glue at an angle greater than 60 degrees. Discard the first 40mm of material that is not evenly mixed.
- Polyurea seam fillers need to be pressed within 15 minutes, while epoxy types can be extended appropriately.
- Residue Cleaning:
- Polyurea seam fillers can be scraped off after 4-5 hours at room temperature, while epoxy types need to be processed after 24 hours of curing.
5. Special Material Handling and Acceptance
- Trial Application: For matte and soft-light tiles, natural marble, and other materials, conduct a trial application of 10-20 centimeters at the corners in advance, and check for color bleeding, residual glue, and adhesion problems after 24 hours.
- Acceptance Standards:
- The surface should be flat without black edges, bubbles, or cracks.
- The transitions at cross joints and internal and external corners should be natural.
- After curing, it should feel hard as porcelain, be wear-resistant and scratch-resistant.
- There should be no color difference, scratches, chipped tiles, or glue residue.
